Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and qualified Assistant Professor of Statistics to teach our B.Sc. Statistics and allied undergraduate programs. The candidate will focus on building strong foundational knowledge in students, aligning with the MAKAUT (Non-AICTE) curriculum and UGC norms . This role is ideal for an educator passionate about undergraduate mentorship and practical statistical application. Employment Type: Full-Time / Permanent Department: Department of Statistics / Basic Sciences Level: Undergraduate (UG) Key Responsibilities Core Teaching: Deliver lectures on UG subjects including Descriptive Statistics, Probability Theory, Statistical Inference, and Sampling Distributions. Practical Lab Supervision: Conduct practical sessions using software like MS Excel, R, and Python , ensuring students can apply theoretical concepts to real datasets. Student Mentoring: Provide academic counseling to UG students and supervise minor projects or field-based surveys. MAKAUT Compliance: Maintain academic diaries, lesson plans, and attendance records as per MAKAUT inspection standards (NAAC/SAR). Exam Coordination: Assist in internal assessments, university practical exams, and the evaluation of semester answer scripts. Requirements Core Skill Set & Competencies 1. Academic & Subject Expertise (UG Focus) Theoretical Foundations: Mastery in Descriptive Statistics, Probability Theory, Sampling Distributions, and Statistical Inference (Estimation & Hypothesis Testing). Applied Mathematics: Proficiency in Linear Algebra and Calculus as applied to Undergraduate Statistics. Design of Experiments: Ability to teach ANOVA, Completely Randomized Design (CRD), and Randomized Block Design (RBD). Economic Statistics: Knowledge of Index Numbers and Time Series Analysis.
