Job Description: Oracle Database Administrator (OCI Support)Location: HyderabadExperience: 5–8 YearsEmployment Type: Full-TimeRole OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to support Oracle databases hosted and managed by Oracle within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). In this role, you will work closely with application teams and Oracle support to ensure database availability, performance monitoring, issue resolution, and operational support.Since the databases are managed by Oracle, the DBA will focus on database monitoring, troubleshooting, performance analysis, and coordination with Oracle cloud support teams rather than performing core infrastructure-level administration.Key ResponsibilitiesDatabase Monitoring & OperationsMonitor Oracle databases hosted in OCI for availability, performance, and capacity.Use OCI monitoring tools and enterprise monitoring solutions to track database health.Investigate and resolve database alerts, incidents, and operational issues.Perform routine operational checks and maintain database uptime.Incident & Problem ManagementTroubleshoot database performance and connectivity issues.Coordinate with Oracle OCI managed services support team for database-level issues.Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring database incidents.Participate in incident management and escalation procedures.Performance Monitoring & OptimizationAnalyze database performance using AWR, ASH, ADDM reports.Identify slow SQL queries and work with development teams for optimization.Monitor resource usage including CPU, memory, I/O, and storage.Backup, Recovery & MaintenanceValidate backup and recovery processes managed by Oracle.Support restore requests and coordinate with Oracle support when required.Ensure backup compliance and retention policies are met.Change ManagementSupport database changes including schema updates, configuration changes, and application releases.Participate in deployment activities and ensure database readiness for application releases.Maintain proper documentation for changes and operational procedures.Security & ComplianceImplement and monitor database access controls.Ensure adherence to organizational security and compliance policies.Monitor audit logs and database activity where applicable.CollaborationWork closely with application teams, cloud engineers, and Oracle support teams.Support troubleshooting across application, middleware, and database layers.Participate in operational reviews and service improvement initiatives.Required SkillsTechnical SkillsStrong experience with Oracle Database (11g / 12c / 19c or higher).Experience supporting Oracle databases in cloud environments (OCI preferred).Knowledge of:SQL and PL/SQLAWR / ASH / ADDM reportsRMAN conceptsData PumpExperience monitoring database performance and troubleshooting issues.OCI KnowledgeFamiliarity with:Oracle Cloud InfrastructureAutonomous Database / DB SystemsOCI Monitoring & LoggingOCI console and CLIToolsExperience with monitoring tools such as:OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager)Datadog / AppDynamics / Dynatrace (optional but beneficial)Ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira)Soft SkillsStrong analytical and troubleshooting skillsAbility to coordinate with Oracle cloud support teamsExcellent documentation and communication skillsAbility to work in 24x7 support or on-call rotationsPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting OCI-managed databasesKnowledge of cloud networking conceptsFamiliarity with DevOps pipelines involving database deploymentsExperience with high availability architectures (Data Guard / RAC)Certifications (Preferred)Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)Oracle Cloud Infrastructure CertificationKey Differentiator for This RoleDatabases are hosted and managed by Oracle in OCIRole focuses on:MonitoringTroubleshootingPerformance analysisCoordination with Oracle supportApplication database support
