Job Description

CAD Designer - Jewelry (Multiple Positions Available - Domestic and International)We are seeking CAD designers who have an actual understanding of jewelry, not just an understanding of software. This is a position that sits at the intersection of design and production. The candidate will work closely with our hand sketch designers, bringing their designs into a CAD format without losing the inherent qualities of the original design. This means that the candidate must be able to look at a sketch, understand the intent of the designer, and then bring that into a CAD format without losing the proportions, flow, and detail that were originally created by hand. There are two positions available, one for our domestic market and another for our international market. Both positions provide an actual look into the inner workings of the company. The candidate will be able to participate in customer meetings, work closely with our sales team to determine what is technically possible versus what must be redone, and attend trade shows in Asia if deemed appropriate for the season.Requirements:- 5 years or more CAD experience, specifically in the field of jewelry, not in product design or manufacturing- Ability to take hand sketch designs and bring them into a CAD format without losing the original qualities- Ability to work closely with a hand sketch designer, as this is a direct partnership- Ability to identify something that looks wrong, not just something that is technically wrong- Ability to communicate clearly to the sales team and clients about the process, as well as engage with the clients themselves- Expert-level proficiency in Rhino with MatrixGold — this is non-negotiable; we work in these tools daily and there's no ramp-up runwayWhat the role entails on a daily basis:You work in conjunction with our design team at the beginning of the process, not just at the end when all the pieces have been completed. As the sketches come in, you'll help determine how they'll be made. Some pieces are easy, some are hard. You'll help identify the difficulties and, if possible, alternatives, and create models that can go into production without surprises.Travel is a component of this job. Large exhibitions outside the country happen annually, and attendance is mandatory.Who this is for:If you've spent years in the back region of a jewelry office, creating CAD files that have never been properly explained, and you're looking for a job where your work is discussed, then this job is worth thinking about. We're a fast-moving group that takes design seriously, and we operate in both the domestic and international arenas. There's room to grow in this position, and you'll never get disconnected from the business side of things.
