Senior Principal Architect – Nutanix An exciting opportunity to join our team within a growing ICT Services company with a global portfolio, as a Nutanix Architect Role Overview Getronics is executing a critical strategic migration of our enterprise customer base from legacy VMware architectures to the Nutanix Cloud Platform (NCP). We are seeking a battle tested Senior Principal Architect to serve as the primary technical authority for this transformation. You will be the /"Tip of the Spear/"—the expert who defines the architecture, builds the migration factory, and hands-on leads the execution of moving complex workloads from vSphere to Nutanix AHV. This role requires deep expertise in cross-hypervisor migration, Nutanix AOS/AHV performance tuning, and infrastructure modernization. Responsibilities/Accountabilities. 1. Strategic Architecture & Leadership • Define the Target State: Architect secure, scalable, and multi-tenant solutions on Nutanix Cloud Platform (running on Dell XC/Hardware) to replace legacy VMware VCSP environments. • Migration Strategy: Develop a comprehensive /"Migration Factory/" methodology to assess, group, and migrate thousands of VMs from ESXi to AHV with minimal downtime. • Technical Authority: Serve as the ultimate escalation point for all technical issues related to Nutanix implementation, cluster design, and V2V migrations. • Mentorship: Upskill the existing VMware-centric operations team on Nutanix AHV, Prism, and Flow, effectively building our Nutanix capability from the ground up. 2. Hands-on Execution (The /"Builder/" Role) • Infrastructure Build: Lead the deployment and configuration of Nutanix clusters (AOS, AHV, Prism Central) on Dell hardware, ensuring optimal performance and high availability. • Migration Execution: Personally oversee and execute complex migrations using Nutanix Move, troubleshooting driver issues, network cutovers, and application performance post-migration. • Interoperability: Design and implement the networking fabric (Flow Networking, VPNs, VLAN mapping) required to connect legacy environments with new target landing zones during the transition period. 3. Customer Engagement • Solution Defence: Collaborate with Pre-Sales and Account Management to present the migration roadmap to anxious enterprise customers, validating the technical integrity and security of the Nutanix platform. • Workload Assessment: Conduct deep-dive discovery of customer environments to identify dependencies, risks, and hard-coded configurations that could break during migration to Nutanix AHV. Required Skills & Qualifications Core Competencies (Must Have): • Nutanix Expertise: Expert-level mastery of the Nutanix stack, specifically Nutanix AHV (Acropolis Hypervisor), AOS, and Prism Central. Must have proven experience replacing ESXi with AHV in production environments. • Migration Mastery: Demonstrated hands-on experience with Nutanix Move for V2V migration (ESXi to AHV). • VMware Deep Dive: 10+ years of deep VMware vSphere knowledge (vCenter, ESXi, NSX) to understand exactly what is being migrated and how to untangle legacy dependencies. • Hardware: Experience with Dell Infrastructure (PowerEdge/VxRail or Dell XC Series) and software-defined storage concepts. Certifications (Highly Preferred): • Nutanix: Nutanix Certified Master (NCM) - Multicloud Infrastructure (MCI). • Nutanix: Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP) with significant field experience. • VMware: VCAP (Design/Deploy) or VCDX (Beneficial for understanding the source environment). Experience Profile.• Minimum 15+ years of total IT Infrastructure experience. • At least 5-7 years of dedicated experience designing and implementing Hyper Converged Infrastructure (HCI), with a specific focus on Nutanix. • Proven Track Record: Must cite specific projects where you led a migration of 1000+ VMs from a legacy 3-tier architecture (or VMware VCSP) to Nutanix AHV. • Experience working in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) or large enterprise environment, dealing with multi-tenancy and strict SLAs.
