In this role, you will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and supporting mainframe storage environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and data integrity across enterprise systems.Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister and maintain mainframe DASD (Direct Access Storage Devices) and tape storage systems Monitor, manage, and optimize storage performance using DFSMS, DFSMShsm, and DFSMSdssAssign, initialize, and manage direct access storage volumes and virtual tape libraries Plan, coordinate, and implement changes to the mainframe storage environment, including GDPS/MGM environments, in close collaboration with the z/OS Automation team Perform capacity planning, space utilization analysis, and future storage forecasting Manage IBM DS8000 (DASD) and TS7700 (Tape) storage hardware Configure and maintain Brocade SAN switches, including zoning and troubleshooting Implement and manage DLm (Disk Library Manager) for backup and disaster recovery operations Respond to and resolve mainframe storage incidents with minimal downtime Develop automation scripts to streamline storage management, backup, and reporting tasks Maintain detailed documentation of storage configurations, processes, and change records Required Skills & Qualifications6–8 years of hands-on experience as a Mainframe Storage Administrator Strong expertise in IBM z/OS and DFSMS (DFSMSdss, DFSMShsm, ISMF)Experience with IBM DS8000, TS7700, and DASD management Knowledge of GDPS (Geographically Dispersed Parallel Sysplex) and high availability setups Hands-on experience with EMC PowerMAX storage solutions (configuration, management, optimization) Proficiency in Brocade SAN management and troubleshooting Strong understanding of backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes Experience with performance monitoring, tuning, and storage health checks Familiarity with automation scripting (JCL, Perl, Python, or Shell) Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and documentation
