Role Description Role Title - Instrumentation EngineerFunction | BU - EngineeringDesignation - Senior ExecutiveLocation - DahejPurpose of the RoleTo ensure reliable operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of field instruments, control systems, and automation infrastructure during shift operations, ensuring plant safety, availability, and process efficiency.Responsibilities in the RoleThe role incumbent is primarily responsible for ensuring…Execute jobs related to instrumentation in the designated shift.Daily reporting, record keeping and documentation within the departments related to the field instrumentation.The activities performed by the incumbent include:Responsibility area 1 (Maintain field instrumentation)Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot field instruments such as: Pressure, Temperature, Flow, and Level transmittersControl valves, on/off valves, actuators, positionersPerform routine and breakdown maintenance of field instruments. Ensure proper installation, loop checking, and commissioning of new instruments.Prepare, schedule and perform PM & calibration in SAP.Can lead instrument contractual manpower individually for PM and calibration.ERP activities- PM/WOBOQ preparation, PR, PO, and its execution for old instrumentation revamping.Old instrument reliability checks, check list preparation & its compliance.Hands on experience with various risk assessment tools like HIRA, HAZOP, CAPA and PSSR.Attend emergency breakdowns related to instrumentation and control systems. Diagnose root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions. Coordinate with operations, electrical, and mechanical teams during critical plant issues.Responsibility area 2(Control Systems & Automation)Monitor and support Distributed Control System (DCS) operations. Carry out basic DCS programming, configuration, and logic modifications as per approved change management procedures. Support PLC systems, HMI, and SCADA where applicable. Handle communication protocols such as HART, Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Foundation Fieldbus, etc.Responsibility area 3(Loop Checking & Commissioning, Interlock)Perform instrument loop checking, signal validation, and functional testing. Verify communication loops between field instruments, marshaling panels, junction boxes, and control systems. Support pre‑commissioning, commissioning, and start‑up activities.Maintain and troubleshoot interlocks and trip logic. Support Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and ensure compliance with safety standards. Participate in testing of interlocks, trips, alarms, and safety shutdown systems. Responsibility area 4(Documentation & Compliance)Maintain calibration records, loop diagrams, instrument datasheets, and maintenance logs. Ensure compliance with plant SOPs, safety standards, and statutory requirements. Follow Management of Change (MOC) procedures for any system or logic changes.The above description is a general statement of required major duties and responsibilities performed on a regular and continuous basis. It does not exclude other duties as assigned.JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSFunctional | Technical Knowledge Required for this Role:Various & different types of field instruments & control systems Troubleshooting of Instrumentation problems & resolving them.Calibration & PM of instruments & control systems.Repairing & servicing of field instruments.Educational Qualification | Experience (in years) | Exposure Required:BE instrument / electronics with 3-5 years of relevant experience in field instruments, DCS, PLC, SCADA and ERP.Skills Required:Strong knowledge of field instrumentation and control systemsHands‑on experience in DCS programming and troubleshootingGood understanding of control loops, interlocks, and safety systemsAbility to work independently during shifts and handle emergencies.
