Experience : 7+ yearsJob SummaryWe are seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, monitor, optimize, and evolve our PostgreSQL database environments. This role is responsible for supporting high‑load on‑premises PostgreSQL systems as well as AWS RDS PostgreSQL deployments.The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in query performance tuning, database version upgrades, and cloud database operations, with a proven ability to plan, test, and execute PostgreSQL upgrades and migrations while ensuring application compatibility, data integrity, and system stability.Key ResponsibilitiesPostgreSQL Administration (On‑Premise & Cloud)Monitor, analyze, and tune heavy and long‑running SQL queries across PostgreSQL environmentsIdentify and resolve performance bottlenecks using PostgreSQL statistics, logs, and system metricsOptimize database performance through:Index design and optimizationQuery analysis and rewritingPostgreSQL configuration tuning (memory, vacuum, autovacuum, checkpoints)Detect and propose data archival mechanism for unused dataEnsure database availability, reliability, and data integrityManage backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategiesDatabase Version Upgrades & Compatibility TestingLead and execute PostgreSQL database version upgrades in on‑premises and AWS RDS environmentsPerform pre‑upgrade assessments to identify:Deprecated features and breaking changesExtension, stored procedure, and function compatibility issuesQuery behavior and performance changes between versionsDesign and execute comprehensive upgrade testing plans to ensure:Stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views remain compatibleExisting SQL queries execute correctly and efficientlyApplications function as expected on the upgraded database versionValidate data integrity, performance, and stability post‑upgradeAWS RDS PostgreSQL & Cloud OperationsDesign, provision, and manage AWS RDS PostgreSQL instancesSpin up and configure RDS environments following best practices for:Security and access controlPerformance tuning and scalabilityHigh availability, backups, and snapshotsMonitor RDS performance using AWS and PostgreSQL monitoring toolsPartner with DevOps and infrastructure teams on cloud database architectureDatabase Migration & ModernizationLead and support database migrations between on‑premises PostgreSQL and AWS RDSPlan and execute migrations with minimal downtime and riskPerform data validation and performance testing after migrationProvide strategic recommendations for PostgreSQL modernization, architecture improvements, and version adoptionDevOps & AutomationApply DevOps principles to database operationsAutomate database provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and maintenanceSupport CI/CD pipelines involving database schema and data changesUse scripting and infrastructure‑as‑code approaches to improve operational efficiencyRequired QualificationsMinimum 7 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with strong focus on PostgreSQLDeep hands‑on knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, performance tuning, and query optimizationProven experience planning and executing PostgreSQL version upgrades, including:Compatibility testing of stored procedures, functions, and SQL queriesManaging risks, rollback plans, and production cutoversStrong experience managing AWS RDS PostgreSQL environmentsSolid understanding of Linux/Unix operating systemsExperience working with DevOps tools, automation, and modern infrastructure practicesExcellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skillsExperience supporting large‑scale or high‑traffic PostgreSQL environmentsStrong communication and technical documentation skillsAbility to work independently and take ownership of complex database platformsComfortable collaborating with application, DevOps, and infrastructure teamsProactive, improvement‑driven mindset focused on performance, stability, and scalabilityFamiliarity with PostgreSQL monitoring and diagnostic toolsKnowledge of high‑availability, replication, and failover strategiesExperience with AWS services such as VPC, IAM, EC2, and S3Scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar)
