Senior NOC Network EngineerJob Summary: We are seeking an experienced Network Operations Engineer to join our Network Operations Center (NOC) at the L3 level. In this critical role, you will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving complex network outages across our data center and backbone networks. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Cumulus (Mellanox), Juniper, and Cisco technologies, with a proven track record of maintaining high availability in high-stakes environments. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work under pressure during incidents, and a commitment to ensuring seamless network performance.Key Responsibilities:Monitor and manage network infrastructure in real-time using NOC tools, identifying potential issues before they impact operations. Troubleshoot and resolve L3 network outages for Cumulus (Mellanox), Juniper, and Cisco devices, including switches, routers, and firewalls in data center and backbone environments. Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on network incidents, documenting findings and implementing preventive measures to minimize future disruptions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including L1/L2 support, engineering, and vendors, to escalate and resolve complex issues efficiently. Optimize network configurations for performance, scalability, and security, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. Participate in on-call rotations for 24/7 support, responding to high-priority alerts and leading incident response efforts. Conduct regular network audits, capacity planning, and firmware/software upgrades for Cumulus, Juniper, and Cisco equipment. Develop and maintain documentation, including network diagrams, procedures, and knowledge base articles for outage handling. Mentor junior team members and contribute to continuous improvement of NOC processes.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). 5+ years of hands-on experience in network operations, with a focus on L3 support in data center and backbone networks. Proven expertise in troubleshooting and managing outages on Cumulus (Mellanox) Linux-based switching, Juniper Junos OS, and Cisco IOS/NX-OS platforms. Strong knowledge of networking protocols such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS, EVPN, VXLAN, and QoS in multi-vendor environments. Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SNMP, NetFlow, Prometheus, or similar) and automation scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible). Familiarity with data center architectures, including spine-leaf topologies, and backbone network design for high-speed connectivity. Certifications such as CCNP/CCIE (Cisco), JNCIP/JNCIE (Juniper), or equivalent are highly preferred. Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with strong attention to detail.Preferred Skills:Experience with SDN (Software-Defined Networking) and network virtualization technologies. Knowledge of security best practices, including firewall configurations and threat mitigation. Prior experience in a NOC environment handling large-scale outages.
