Principal Technology Engineer, Power Electronics in Photovoltaic (PV) Department: Technology ServicesLocation: Remote, IndiaJob DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Principal Technology Engineer specializing in Power Electronics and MV/HV Electrical systems in Photovoltaic (PV) utility-scale plants to support the expansion of our Technology Services team.In this role, you will act as a technical leader and subject matter expert, contributing to the development, execution, and optimization of technical advisory services across solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) projects globally.We are seeking an experienced electrical engineer with strong expertise in transformers and inverters and other power electronic systems in utility-scale PV plants (MV/HV systems, substations for renewable energy projects), along with familiarity with IEC and industry standards, manufacturing process and proven experience working closely with developers, investors, and key project stakeholders, while also driving service innovation, engineering excellence, and client engagement.You will join STS, a global leader in renewable energy, part of a dynamic group of companies operating across 16 countries in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Our team members, like you, are driven by a passion for renewable energy, technology, innovation, quality, and sustainability, working together to make a meaningful, long-lasting impact on the world.Position OverviewAs the Principal Technology Engineer, Power Electronics, you will serve as a key technical expert in the development and delivery of services related to power electronics in the field of photovoltaics, with special attention to inverters, transformers, PCA, grid connections, switchgear, and other power electronics equipment. You will support the design and refinement of innovative technical solutions, ensure efficient and effective delivery of services, and integrate power electronics technologies into client solutions. This position offers you the opportunity to work on advanced technology projects, collaborate with diverse teams, and drive technical excellence in the renewable energy sector.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform technology reviews, risk assessments, and product evaluations related to power electronics, including audits, inspections, conformity assessments, field testing, and technical due diligence across power electronics and MV/HV systems.Prepare detailed technology reports, roadmaps, and market insights to support internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and strategic value.Deliver on-site projects, applying power electronics technology and standards while collaborating with contractors, project teams, and stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and ensure compliance.Perform comprehensive field testing of power electronics systems, ensuring functionality, performance, and compliance while recommending improvements and optimizations.Power Electronics & Electrical ExpertiseProvide deep technical expertise in:Transformers and InvertersPCA, MV/HV systems, substations, and grid connectionsSwitchgear and power conversion systemsSupport system design reviews, optimization, and troubleshootingEnsure alignment with global standards and regulatory frameworksService Development & InnovationProvide expert insights during the design and improvement of new services, ensuring alignment with emerging technology trends, client requirements, and industry best practices.Contribute to the ideation, conceptualization, and implementation of service innovations leveraging advanced power electronics technologies.Ensure all services are delivered on time and comply with industry and quality standards.Support technology benchmarking, roadmaps, and market intelligence.Stakeholder & Client ManagementProvide post-delivery technical support and issue resolutionBuild strong client relationships through clear communication and technical credibilityTeam Leadership & CollaborationCollaborate with cross-functional service lines to create cutting-edge technical solutions, including the development of manufacturing and technology guidelines for power electronics.Deliver specialized training on power electronics for internal teams, clients, and other stakeholders to enhance knowledge and technical capacity.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor's or master's degree (Ph.D. is a plus) in Electrical Engineering / Power Electronics / Renewable EnergyMinimum of 7 years of experience in the renewables sector, with at least 5 years in solar or energy storage technologies.Advanced knowledge of transformers, inverters and other power electronic components in utility-scale PV plants (PCA, grid connections, switchgear, etc), including systems design, manufacturing process and compliance with industry standards.Technical SkillsIn-depth knowledge of:Power electronics for utility-scale PV plants (transformers, inverters, PCA, converters, MV/HV systems, substations, and switchgear)IEC/UL/IEEE standardsFamiliarity with:PV modules, energy storage systems (BESS)Industrial manufacturing processes of power electronic components.Experience in:Technical due diligenceEngineering design review and validationTechnology benchmarking and roadmap developmentCore CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and stakeholder managementAbility to work in cross-functional and global environmentsProactive mindset with focus on innovation and continuous learningAdditional InformationTravel: Willingness to travel globallyReporting To: Head of Technology Services
