Job Description Neuroscience & EEG Subject Matter Expert (SME) Organization: Basil Health Role Type: Full-time Location: Primarily in Delhi, but flexible with travel to partner hospitals and wellness centers Role Overview Basil Health is developing a portable EEG-based neurotechnology platform designed to enable scalable monitoring and assessment of brain states related to stress, anxiety, relaxation, and early cognitive decline, including Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer’s disease. We are seeking a Neuroscience & EEG Subject Matter Expert (SME) who will help bridge neuroscience, signal processing, and artificial intelligence with real-world clinical and wellness deployments. The SME will work closely with the product, AI, and demonstration teams to explain the scientific foundations of Basil Health’s EEG platform, provide technical justification for projects, and engage with clinicians and institutional partners during demonstrations and pilot programs. Portable EEG systems have increasingly been used to detect neural signatures associated with cognitive impairment and emotional regulation, with machine-learning models enabling automated identification of neurophysiological biomarkers relevant for mental health and neurodegenerative conditions. Key Responsibilities Scientific Validation and Technical Advocacy Provide expert interpretation of EEG signals and neurophysiological biomarkers generated by Basil Health’s portable EEG system. Explain the scientific basis of EEG-derived metrics related to stress, relaxation, and cognitive decline. Support clinical discussions with neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, and wellness practitioners. Deployment and Demonstration Support Accompany the demo/testing team to hospitals, diagnostic centers, and wellness facilities. Provide technical justification for the device and its analytics pipeline during demonstrations and pilot deployments. Address scientific and methodological questions from institutional stakeholders. AI and Signal Processing Integration Collaborate with the AI/ML team to evaluate algorithms used for EEG feature extraction and classification. Contribute to development of biomarkers for stress regulation, cognitive impairment, and brain-state monitoring. Assist in validating signal-processing pipelines including filtering, artifact removal, spectral analysis, and connectivity measures. Clinical and Research Collaboration Help design pilot studies and validation protocols with partner hospitals and research institutions. Interpret results from EEG-based cognitive and emotional assessments. Contribute to technical reports, white papers, and scientific publications. Required Qualifications Education PhD in Neuroscience, Cognitive Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Neuroengineering, or a closely related field. Expertise Strong background in EEG acquisition, preprocessing, and analysis. Knowledge of neural correlates of stress, anxiety, attention, and cognitive decline. Experience with machine learning approaches applied to EEG signals. Technical Skills Familiarity with EEG analysis tools such as: Python (MNE, NeuroKit) MATLAB / EEGLAB Signal processing frameworks Understanding of: Spectral analysis (alpha, theta, beta rhythms) Functional connectivity measures Artifact removal methods (ICA, filtering) Preferred Qualifications Experience working with portable or wearable EEG devices. Research experience related to Mild Cognitive Impairment or Alzheimer’s disease biomarkers. Familiarity with digital mental health technologies or neurofeedback systems. Experience interacting with clinical partners and hospital administrators. Being a meditator oneself is a positive bonus. Key Outcomes Expected The SME will help ensure that Basil Health’s neurotechnology: Is scientifically credible and clinically interpretable. Is effectively communicated to healthcare institutions and wellness partners. Is validated through rigorous neuroscience and signal-processing methodologies.
