Job Description (JD) for City Safety Officer:Location: City-Wide – Multiple Charging & Swapping Stations Department: Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Reporting To: HSE ManagerJob Overview:The City Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring comprehensive fire and safety compliance across all battery charging and swapping stations within the city. The role includes conducting audits, inspections, compliance monitoring, training, and emergency response management.The City Safety Officer oversees safety operations at station, cluster, and city levels, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and maintaining the readiness of all firefighting and emergency equipment. The Fire Marshal reports directly to the City Safety Officer, who provides guidance, supervision, and performance monitoring.Key Responsibilities:Ensure implementation and compliance of fire and safety standards across all stations. Conduct periodic safety audits and inspections at station and cluster levels. Monitor availability, condition, and maintenance of firefighting equipment (Extinguishers, alarms, PPE, etc.). Prepare stations audit Schedule, Review of audit observation, ensure closure of safety observations and audit findings. Supervise and guide Fire Marshals in day-to-day safety activities. Conduct Induction safety trainings and Schedule refresh training programs for employees. Ensure emergency preparedness, including fire drills and evacuation exercises at stations. Investigate fire incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions. Ensure safe handling, storage, and charging practices for batteries. Maintain safety records, reports, and compliance documentation. Coordinate with local authorities (fire department, regulatory bodies) when required. Authority:Stop unsafe operations posing fire or safety risksEscalate critical safety issues to managementEnforce corrective actions for non-complianceRecommend disciplinary action in case of repeated safety violations.Fire Safety Audits:Conduct routine fire safety audits at each charging and swapping station to verify compliance and ensure the presence and functionality of critical fire safety equipment, including:ABC, CO₂, and Lithium Fire Extinguishers Fire Bucket with StandLeather Hand GlovesRespiratory MasksEye-Protecting GogglesBattery Tongs (for handling batteries in emergencies)RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete) Water Rings (for extinguishing lithium-ion battery thermal runaways)Fire BlanketsCharging Station Accessibility Compliance.Safety Equipment Maintenance:Ensure all fire safety equipment is fully functional, accessible, and up to regulatory standards.Collaborate with station commanders, Closter head and Exicutive to identify and rectify safety deficiencies.Monitor stock levels of fire safety equipment and coordinate warehouse replenishments.Training and Development:Conduct regular fire safety training sessions for station commanders and staff.Train personnel on fire prevention measures, emergency response, and safe handling of battery fires. Demonstrate the correct use of safety equipment and reinforce evacuation protocols.Supervision and Reporting:Oversee the safety operations and emergency preparedness across multiple station clusters.Work closely with Cluster Heads, Cluster Executives, and Station Commanders to ensure smooth safety compliance.Report operations-related safety concerns to the City Head/Operations Team and electrical safety issues to the Electrical Team.Provide detailed reports to the HSE Manager on safety performance, incidents, and fire protocol breaches. Emergency Response & Incident Management:Serve as the first point of contact for all fire-related emergencies at charging and swapping stations.Respond to battery thermal runaway incidents and coordinate fire containmentCollaborate with Operation team and emergency services when required.Lead emergency fire control operations, including: Deploying fire blanketsUsing extinguishersActivating water-flooded RCC rings for lithium-ion battery cooling Compliance & Documentation:Ensure all charging stations meet fire safety regulations and lithium-ion battery handling policies.Maintain accurate records of:Fire safety audits & Compliance and inspections reports on YUMA AppExtinguishers DataAvailability of fire safety equipment and First aid itemsEquipment maintenance logsTraining session reports of commandersIncident recordsQualifications Educational Background:Certification in Fire Safety and Hazardous Materials Management (mandatory)Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Fire Engineering, or related field (preferred)Proficiency in EHS software, and MS Office SuiteKRA & KPI – City Safety OfficerNumber of regulatory non-compliances (Target: Zero major NC)Timely submission of compliance reports (100%) Number of audits conducted vs planned (Target: 100%)% of audit findings closed within timeline (Target: ≥ 95%)% of employees trained (Target: 100%) Timely submission of monthly reports (100%)Accuracy of safety documentation (≥ 98%)
