Job Description – IB MYP Teacher LibrarianDesignation & Band - IB MYP Teacher LibrarianTeam/Department - AcademicsSchool - TSRA, HyderabadPurpose of the RoleThe IB MYP Teacher Librarian is responsible for supporting the educational mission of the school by managing the school library’s resources, promoting literacy, and supporting teachers and students with information literacy skills. The Teacher Librarian will collaborate with faculty to plan and implement curriculum-integrated library lessons and support the inquiry-based learning processes within the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).Key Responsibilities:1. Library Management: Oversee the operation and daily management of the school library. Organize and maintain a diverse collection of physical and digital resources (books, journals, e-books, databases, etc.). Ensure that the library is a welcoming and functional space for both students and staff. Develop, organize, and implement library programs and services that support the IB MYP framework.2. Collaboration with Faculty: Collaborate with MYP teachers to integrate information literacy and research skills into the curriculum. Provide support for MYP units of inquiry, guiding students in research, information gathering, and citation practices. Assist teachers in developing media-rich, inquiry-driven lessons and projects.3. Teaching & Learning: Provide direct instruction on research skills, information literacy, digital citizenship, and bibliographic citation. Offer workshops for students and faculty on using library resources and databases effectively. Support students with independent learning, reading for pleasure, and academic research. Act as an advocate for inquiry-based and self-directed learning in alignment with the IB philosophy.4. Library Resource Development: Curate, evaluate, and develop a balanced and inclusive collection of print and digital resources that supports the curriculum and promotes diverse perspectives. Manage library budgets and recommend resources for purchase. Maintain and promote access to digital libraries, databases, and other online resources.5. Professional Development & Community Engagement: Stay current with trends in educational technology, library science, and IB pedagogy. Attend relevant workshops and conferences, and contribute to professional development activities within the school community. Promote reading initiatives and literacy programs to inspire students to become lifelong learners.6. Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate records of library circulation, acquisition, and inventory. Prepare reports and statistics for library usage and resources. Work with the school leadership team to ensure library goals align with broader educational objectives.Qualifications:Education: Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). IB MYP training or certification is highly desirable.Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience in a school library setting, preferably in an IB context. Familiarity with IB MYP frameworks, concepts, and assessment practices. Experience working with diverse student populations and supporting differentiated learning.Skills: Strong knowledge of library management systems and educational technologies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with students, staff, and parents. Ability to collaborate effectively with teaching staff to design and implement curriculum-based learning. Strong organizational and time-management skills.
