Job Description Location: Mancherial and Pedapalli, Telangana (On-ground) Experience: 7–8+ years in Community Management/Rural Development About the Role Swaniti Initiative is looking for a seasoned, street-smart, and deeply embedded Community Lead to spearhead our "Just Transition" program in the coal belts of Telangana. As coal mines undergo repurposing, local economies face a critical turning point. We need a catalyst who doesn't just manage meetings but knows how to move the needle . You will be the bridge between traditional livelihoods and future-ready economic opportunities, ensuring that no community is left behind as the industrial landscape shifts. Key Responsibilities Mobilize Gram Panchayats: Grassroots-level organizing to reconfigure and articulate the evolving needs of the community. You will help villages find their voice in the face of economic change. Strategic Liaison: Work directly with local administration (District Collectorate, Block offices) and State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) to identify and unlock alternative economic pathways. Enable Systemic Shift: Align community aspirations with available government schemes and industrial opportunities to facilitate a smooth socio-economic transition. Stakeholder Navigation: Navigate the complex dynamics between labor unions, local leaders, and administrative bodies to drive consensus. Who You Are The Local Insider: You have spent at least 7–8 years working within communities in Telangana. You understand the nuances of the local culture, language (Telugu fluency is a must), and the specific socio-economics of the coal belt. The "Needle-Mover": You have a proven track record of not just "doing activities" but achieving tangible outcomes . You know how to get things done within the bureaucratic and social systems of rural India. The Strategist: You can look at a closed mine and see a dozen new opportunities, whether in renewable energy, circular economy, or decentralised manufacturing. Communicator - You’re as comfortable having a grounded conversation with a farmer as you are confidently presenting ideas to a District Magistrate or corporate leader. Requirements Experience: Minimum 7–8 years of experience in community organizing, rural development, or local governance. Education: An undergraduate degree in Social Work, Public Policy, Rural Management, or a related field. History: An established history of leading community-led change or livelihood programs. Logistics:  Should be based in or willing to travel extensively across Mancherial and Pedapalli.
