Position Details Job Title : Direct & Indirect Taxation Manager Location : Chennai Qualification : A professional qualification such as a Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, or equivalent is mandatory. A bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting. Experience: 9 -15 Years in taxation, with a focus on both direct and indirect taxes. Prior experience in a large corporation, specific industry (e.g., manufacturing, real estate), or a /"Big 4/" accounting firm can be advantageous. Proven leadership experience with a track record of managing and developing high-performing teams Job Description: Lead of Direct and Indirect Taxation is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization's tax functions, ensuring compliance with all tax laws, optimizing tax strategies, and managing tax risks. This individual typically reports to the Head of Finance or CFO. Key Responsibilities Tax Strategy and Planning: Formulating tax strategies to optimize the company's tax position and advising business leadership on the tax implications of business decisions and transactions. Compliance & Reporting: Ensuring timely and accurate computation, payment, and filing of all direct taxes (e.g., corporate income tax, advance tax, TDS) and indirect taxes (e.g., GST, VAT, sales tax). Overseeing the preparation of annual tax returns and reports, including tax audit reports, transfer pricing documentation, and GST annual returns (GSTR-9, GSTR-9C). Audits & Litigation: Managing all tax assessments, audits (internal and external), and litigations with tax authorities, external advisors, and auditors. Developing and advising on dispute resolution strategies to mitigate tax liabilities. Reconciliation & M.I.S: Ensuring reconciliation between various tax systems and accounting records (e.g., 26AS vs books) and providing management with timely and accurate tax-related Management Information System (MIS) reports. Advisory & Training: Staying informed about changes in tax laws and regulations and ensuring prompt adaptation to new compliance requirements. Conducting training for internal finance and project teams. Stakeholder Management: Acting as the single point of contact for tax authorities, consultants, and internal stakeholders on all taxation matters. Team Management: Overseeing and managing the taxation team, ensuring high-performance levels and continuous professional development. Skills: Expert-level knowledge of relevant national and international tax laws and regulations. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with high attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
