Job Description – Senior Backend Engineer (PHP/Yii2) – Team Lead (Hands-on ERP-SaaS)Company DescriptionSamarth eGov is an initiative under Project Samarth, sponsored by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and implemented by Delhi of University. The project aim to enable the Universities and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) through a digital framework for planning, management, delivery, and monitoring of services for students, staff, and other stakeholders through fully managed, cloud based, comprehensive ERP that is custom built for HEIs of the country. Drive architectural standards, cross-module integrations, and end-to-end technical delivery excellence aligned with institutional and business priorities. This is a hands-on role (60–70% coding expected). At least 1 year of experience owning modules or leading small teams (3–6 engineers).Strong hands-on experience with PHP (Yii2 preferred), MySQL/PostgreSQL, and REST API development. Solid understanding of MVC architecture and backend system design fundamentals. Experience with caching mechanisms (Redis, query caching, or application-level caching).Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, and Linux-based environments. Exposure to performance optimization and handling moderate scale systems. Basic understanding of cloud environments (AWS or similar) is a plus.Experience working in multi-tenant systems or ERP/education domain is an advantage. Comfortable working in a high-velocity development and deployment environment. This is a hands-on role (60–70% coding expected), with responsibility for leading a small team and delivering scalable backend modules.
