NHIT plays a pivotal role in advancing India’s infrastructure ambitions by enabling efficient institutional investment and modern governance practices. Hiring: General Counsel / Chief Legal Officer Location: Delhi Organization: SPVs under National Highways Infra Trust (NHIT) Function: Legal Reporting To : Managing Director & CEO Role Overview General Counsel / Chief Legal Officer will be responsible for driving the organization’s legal, regulatory and governance agenda. This is a high-impact role requiring deep expertise in infrastructure investments, large-scale transactions, and multi-stakeholder governance. Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary legal advisor to senior leadership and the MD & CEO. Lead corporate governance , regulatory compliance and legal risk management initiatives. Advise on legal aspects of infrastructure investment transactions, including asset acquisitions, project financing, debt structuring and InvIT-related transactions. Oversee contract management , including EPC contracts, O&M agreements, concession frameworks, vendor engagements and financing documentation. Handle litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution including coordination with external counsel as required. Ensure compliance with InvIT regulations , SEBI norms and applicable legal frameworks. Drive companywide governance processes viz. anti-bribery compliance, investigations, POSH requirements, whistleblower mechanisms, etc. Liaise effectively with regulators, investors, partners and other key stakeholders . Candidate’s Desired Profile Qualification - LLB (mandatory), preferably with an additional qualification of LLM, CS or MBA. 15+ years of relevant legal experience. Strong background in infrastructure , InvITs , asset management , NBFCs , or financial services . Expertise in road infrastructure projects , concession agreements, and PPP structures. Proven experience from legal perspective in infrastructure financing and regulatory frameworks. Familiarity with listed company compliance and governance standards preferred.
