Wissen Infotech is Hiring for AWS Redshift Database Administrator About the job Role: AWS Redshift Database administrator Experience: Overall 4 - 5 years (4 years relevant) Location: Bangalore/India Redshift Platform Engineer with expertise in administering large‑scale Amazon Redshift clusters, including RA3 architecture, workload management (WLM), concurrency scaling, and automated maintenance operations. Proficient in query performance optimization using sort/distribution key strategies, compression encoding, VACUUM/ANALYZE automation, and SVL/STL diagnostic tables. Strong hands‑on experience integrating Redshift with S3, Glue, Lambda, and IAM, implementing secure VPC‑based deployments, snapshot management, and cost‑optimized storage frameworks. Skilled in developing platform automation using Python and AWS Lambda to ensure high availability, scalable processing, and operational reliability. Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to articulate results and issues to internal and client teams. Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment. Primary Responsibilities Include: Platform Architecture & Infrastructure Management Design, provision, and manage Amazon Redshift clusters (Provisioned and Serverless). Define Dev/QA/Prod environment strategy and governance. Capacity planning and workload segmentation. Evaluate and implement new AWS Redshift features. Performance & Workload Optimization Optimize query performance and database design. Configure and manage Workload Management (WLM). Oversee distribution/sort key strategies. Manage concurrency scaling and cluster tuning. Conduct performance benchmarking and proactive improvements. Identity, Security & Governance Implement IAM role-based access control (RBAC). Integrate Redshift with AWS Identity Center / Enterprise SSO (e.g., Entra ID). Manage MFA enforcement and service account governance. Implement encryption (at rest & in transit). Control network access via VPC security configurations. Oversee PAM integration and password rotation policies. Participate in vulnerability remediation and compliance initiatives. Disaster Recovery & Resilience Define and manage cross-region snapshot strategy. Establish RTO/RPO objectives. Conduct DR testing and validation. Ensure backup governance and high availability alignment. Logging, Monitoring & Observability Design logging architecture (CloudWatch/S3 integration). Ensure SIEM integration (e.g., Sentinel/Splunk/QRadar). Define monitoring and alerting standards. Own L3/L4 escalation and incident triage governance. Cost Governance & FinOps Monitor and optimize cluster utilization. Manage Reserved Instance planning and renewals. Detect cost anomalies using AWS Cost Explorer / Apptio. Drive tagging governance and cost attribution. Optimize storage lifecycle (S3 tiering). Data Integration & Pipeline Oversight Govern ETL/ELT ingestion patterns. Collaborate with data engineering teams using Glue, S3, Lambda. Ensure ingestion reliability and schema governance. Strategic Planning & Stakeholder Collaboration Partner with Data Engineering, BI, Security, SOC, and Finance teams. Engage AWS TAM/support for escalations and feature requests. Maintain platform roadmap and technical debt register. Represent platform during audits and security reviews. Technical Essentials Redshift: RA3, Spectrum, WLM, Sort/Dist Keys, Compression, ZSTD, STL/SVL Tables AWS: S3, Glue, Athena, Lambda, CloudWatch, SNS, SQS, IAM, VPC, KMS ETL Tools: IICS, Glue ETL, Qlik Replicate, Airflow Languages: SQL, Python, Shell Script Tools: Git, Jira, Jenkins, Terraform (optional) Business / Soft Skills: Proven ability and initiative to learn and research new concepts, ideas, and technologies quickly. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, excellent presentation skills. Ability to effectively move forward on tasks even with ambiguous or changing requirements. Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment in a global context. Willingness and ability to train and teach others. Ability to facilitate meetings and follow up with resulting action items. Ability to self-manage, prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Strong systems/process orientation with demonstrated analytical thinking, organization skills and problem-solving skills.
