Position: Substation Design LeadCompany Website: ; Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems focus preferred).Skill:Experience: 6+ years in substation secondary design (P&C). Software Proficiency: * Expertise in AutoCAD, Bentley Substation, or EPLAN. Familiarity with relay configuration software (e.g., AcSELerator, DIGSI, PCM600). Knowledge of ETAP or CAPE for protection coordination is a plus. Standards Knowledge: Strong understanding of IEEE C37 series or IEC 60255/61850 standards. Soft Skills: High attention to detail, strong analytical problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple project deadlines. The P&C Design Engineer is responsible for the detailed engineering and design of secondary systems for high-voltage substations. This role involves developing protection schemes, control logic, and wiring diagrams to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the electrical grid. The candidate will translate primary system requirements into functional secondary designs, adhering to international standards (IEC/IEEE) and client-specific requirements. Technical Design & Engineering • Develop Key Line Diagrams (KLD) and Single Line Diagrams (SLD) for substation protection and control. • Design AC/DC Schematics, including tripping logic, interlocking, and alarm schemes. • Prepare Wiring and Termination Diagrams for relay panels, switchgear, and control equipment. • Design Panel Layouts and General Arrangement (GA) drawings for control and relay rooms. • Calculate and size secondary system components, including CT/VT sizing, DC battery bank calculations, and cable voltage drop assessments. Protection & Logic Development • Configure and program Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) and Digital Relays (e.g., SEL, GE, Siemens, ABB). • Develop Logic Diagrams and Boolean logic for automated control sequences and interlocking. • Support the development of Relay Setting Calculations and coordination studies. • Implement Substation Automation System (SAS) architectures and communication protocols (e.g., IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus). Documentation & Quality Control • Prepare comprehensive Bill of Materials (BOM) and cable schedules. • Ensure all designs comply with utility standards, safety codes, and environmental regulations. • Perform technical reviews of vendor drawings and equipment specifications. • Maintain consistency across drawings by utilizing standardized templates and symbol libraries.
