About the Role As a Senior DBA, you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of our PostgreSQL clusters. This is a hands-on role focused on operating at scale optimizing complex queries, managing multi-terabyte partitioned tables, and ensuring our reporting workloads thrive without impacting production stability.Key ResponsibilitiesCluster Orchestration: Design and manage high-availability (HA) PostgreSQL clusters (Single-node, Patroni, or managed cloud) across all environments.Performance & Tuning: Proactively monitor and resolve bottlenecks, including vacuum/autovacuum tuning, index bloat, and connection management.Data Lifecycle & Partitioning: Implement advanced partitioning strategies (Range, List, Hash) and automated archival policies to maintain performance as datasets grow.Resiliency & Security: Own the backup/DR strategy (PITR, pgBackRest), execute zero-downtime upgrades, and enforce RBAC and encryption standards.Analytics Support: Optimize read-replicas and materialized views to enable high-performance BI reporting (Tableau/Power BI) without compromising OLTP speed.Automation: Utilize Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and scripting (Python/Shell) to automate provisioning and maintenance.High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Design and orchestrate automated failover (Patroni/Cloud HA) to maintain RTO of Financial Integrity & Compliance: Enforce SOC2/GDPR standards by implementing granular audit logging, encryption, and automated PII masking across all environments.Data Lifecycle & Archiving: Architect and execute data retention policies that move aged trade data to lower-cost storage tiers without sacrificing accessibility for BI or regulatory audits.Qualifications7–10 years of experience as a production PostgreSQL DBADeep mastery of MVCC, WAL, and Query Planner behaviorProficiency with pgBouncer, Patroni, and cloud-native database environments (AWS/Azure)Strong Linux skills and experience with Prometheus/Grafana monitoring
