Job Description Lighting Design & Specification Manager – Commercial & Industrial Lighting Location: Bangalore Business: Professional Lighting – Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Segment Department: Professional Lighting Role Overview We are seeking a highly motivated Lighting Design & Specification Manager who will combine lighting design expertise with strong specification-driven business development. This role will focus on driving project specifications and building relationships with architects, lighting designers, MEP consultants, interior designers, and project consultants across the Commercial & Industrial segment. The role requires a strong mix of technical knowledge, consultative selling, and lighting design support. Role split: • 20% Lighting design & technical support • 80% Specification sales & business development The individual will play a key role in positioning Sturlite as a preferred professional lighting brand among project influencers and consultants. Key Responsibilities 1. Specification & Business Development (Primary Responsibility – 80%) • Build and maintain strong relationships with Architects, MEP Consultants, Lighting Designers, Interior Designers, and Project Management Consultants (PMCs). • Promote Sturlite’s professional lighting solutions across Commercial & Industrial projects. • Identify and track upcoming projects in offices, IT parks, industrial facilities, warehouses, retail spaces, hospitality, and infrastructure projects. • Ensure Sturlite products are specified in project BOQs, drawings, and tender documents. • Work closely with Specifiers, project sales teams, contractors, and other stake holders to convert specifications into orders. • Maintain a robust project pipeline and specification tracker for Bangalore and other key market like Chennai, Hyderabad. (South) 2. Technical Presentations & Product Evangelization • Deliver technical presentations and product training sessions on Sturlite lighting solutions to key stakeholders including: o Architects o Lighting designers o MEP consultants o Interior designers o Project consultants o Developers and corporate clients • Conduct product seminars, technical workshops, and design discussions to increase brand awareness and product adoption. • Showcase application-based lighting solutions and product capabilities aligned with project requirements. • Represent Sturlite at industry events, design forums, architect meets, and exhibitions. 3. Lighting Design & Technical Support (20%) • Develop lighting layouts, lux calculations, and lighting simulations using Dialux / Relux or equivalent software. • Provide technical lighting design support to consultants and architects. • Recommend optimal lighting solutions and fixture selections based on project requirements. • Assist in mock-ups, lighting trials, and on-site demonstrations. • Ensure lighting designs comply with relevant standards and energy efficiency guidelines. Key Stakeholders The role will engage regularly with following customer : • Architects • Lighting Designers • MEP Consultants • Interior Designers • Project Management Consultants (PMCs) • Real Estate Developers • Electrical Contractors • Internal Sales & Product Teams Target Project Segments • Commercial Office Buildings • IT Parks and Corporate Campuses • Industrial Facilities and Factories • Warehouses and Logistics Parks • Retail & Shopping Malls • Hospitality Projects • Institutional Buildings Desired Candidate Profile Education Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Electrical Engineering, or Lighting Design Experience • 12–15 years of experience in lighting design, specification sales, or professional lighting solutions • Proven experience interacting with architects, consultants, and project stakeholders Technical Skills • Proficiency in Dialux / Relux lighting design software • Strong understanding of: o Lux levels o CCT & CRI o Glare control o Lighting standards o Energy-efficient lighting solutions Business Skills • Strong consultative selling and relationship-building skills • Ability to drive specification-based project sales • Excellent presentation and communication skills • Ability to conduct technical seminars and product presentations Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) • Number of new architect / consultant relationships developed • Technical presentations and seminars conducted • Specifications secured in projects • Qualified project pipeline created • Conversion of specifications into revenue orders • Update and share weekly dashboard on New customer meetings (Architect/Consultant) & Technical presentation and Orders converted
