Job Title: Head – Advanced Engineering Location: Baner, Pune, MaharashtraReporting To: CTO Role Purpose:To lead the identification, concept development, and maturation of next-generation automotive technologies, with advanced semiconductors and platforms, enabling the organization to secure future business, accelerate innovation, and deliver scalable solutions for OEM customers across the product lines telematics, eCockpit, BCM, and connected vehicle ecosystems in India and global markets.Key Responsibilities:Technology & Product StrategyDefine, develop next-generation architectures and own the advanced engineering roadmap across Telematics, eCockpit, BCM, and EVCC domainsAlign technology strategy with OEM RFIs / RFQs, market trends, andMust meet Regulatory requirementsDrive Platform, Modularity, and Reuse strategies across product linesIdentify & integrate emerging technologies shaping connected mobility (SoC, Connectivity, Cybersecurity, AI, OTA, V2X, charging standards)Establish Strategic Technology PartnershipsWork with semiconductor companies, cloud providers, and software partners.Ensure early access to new chipsets and platforms.Advanced / Pre-Development LeadershipLead concept, feasibility, and pre-development activities up to handover to New Product Development functionOversee system architecture, HW/SW partitioning, and technology selectionEnsure robust proof-of-concepts (PoCs), prototypes, and demos for customersEstablish clear technology readiness levels (TRLs) and maturity gatesDomain Ownership:TelematicsCellular (4G/5G), GNSS, V2X, OTA, eCall, cybersecurityCloud/backend integration and data serviceseCockpitDigital clusters, infotainment, domain/zonal architecturesSoC platforms, Android Automotive / QNX / LinuxHMI frameworks, graphics, audio, ConnectivityBCM / CAN GatewaysBody electronics, CAN/LIN/FlexRay/EthernetPower management, diagnostics, functional safetyZonal architectures and consolidation strategiesEVCC (Electric Vehicle Charge Controller)AC/DC charging standards (CCS, ISO 15118, OCPP)Communication, power electronics interfaces, safety & compliancePlug & Charge, smart charging, cybersecurityCustomer & Business InterfaceAct as technical authority in customer engagements and technical reviewsSupport RFQ/RFI responses, architecture proposals, and cost-technology trade-offsCollaborate with sales and product management to shape winning technical solutionsOrganization & People LeadershipBuild and lead a multi-disciplinary advanced engineering team (systems, HW, SW, validation.Drive adoption of modern engineering practices like Agile / SAFe engineering, CI/CD for embedded software, Model-based systems engineering, etc.Mentor senior technical leaders and architectsLead Patent generationProcess, Quality & ComplianceEnsure compliance with ASPICE, ISO 26262 (Functional Safety), ISO 21434 (Cybersecurity)Drive best practices for requirements, architecture, and design reviewsSupport transition from advanced engineering to series developmentRequired QualificationsTechnical SkillsSystem architecture & platform designEmbedded HW/SW, SoC-based systemsVehicle networking & diagnosticsFunctional safety & cybersecurity fundamentalsUnderstanding of cloud/backend ecosystems (for telematics & connected services)Leadership & Soft SkillsStrategic thinker with hands-on technical depthStrong customer communication and executive presenceAbility to balance innovation, cost, timing, and qualityProven experience building high-performing engineering teamsEducationMaster’s or bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation / Engineering or related field Experience15+ years in automotive electronics / embedded systems5+ years in senior technical or engineering leadership rolesStrong background in at least two of the four domains: Telematics, eCockpit, BCM, EVCCExperience working with global OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers
