Job DescriptionAbout NPPL UPL Ltd.’s Natural Plant Protection (NPPL) business unit, based in Bengaluru, delivers natural and biological solutions to enhance crop resilience and protection, improve plant nutrition, and support long-term soil health for growers.Role: Lead – Field DevelopmentLocation: BangalorePurpose of the PositionThe role is responsible for the overall management of the agricultural field station, including the design, execution, and validation of field trial data to support research and product development activities.Key Responsibilities1. Field Station Management and MonitoringProvide leadership for field station operations and align activities with the requirements of NPPL Bengaluru.Work closely with field staff for sourcing materials and services.Ensure compliance and alignment with UPL OpenAg field station standards related to processes, techniques, and equipment.Maintain and manage sick plots for pathogens and nematodes.Maintain and manage insectary facilities.Forecast requirements, raise purchase requisitions (PRs), and follow up to ensure timely availability of resources.2. Proof of Concept (PoC) TrialsClose co-ordination with NPPL scientists for the testing requirements of various product categoriesSupport R&D by generating high-quality real time technical data for products through well-defined Proof of Concept trials.Design robust trial protocols based on strong scientific hypotheses to evaluate product efficacy and performance.Execute trials in accordance with standard testing procedures.Analyze trial outcomes and review performance data to assess product effectiveness.3. Coordination with Global, ARDS, and India PD TeamsCollaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand technical needs and pain points.Plan, coordinate, and execute field trials in alignment with global and regional teams.Design trial protocols and experimental layouts to demonstrate product performance.Present data and insights to internal teams and external stakeholders.Coordinate with other UPL field stations on trial planning and execution.Oversee trial follow-up activities, including observations, data recording, analysis, review, and reporting.Compile, review, and discuss trial data with internal teams.4. Training and Capability DevelopmentRegularly organize and conduct training and development programs at the field station for staff and stakeholders.Educational QualificationsM.Sc. or Ph.D. in AgronomyExperience Required10–12 years of relevant experience in agricultural field trial management
