Job Title: Lead – Learning Resource CentreLocation: University of Bristol – Mumbai Campus Reports To: Director – Campus Operations, Quality Assurance & RegistrarRole PurposeThe Lead – Learning Resource Centre will establish and lead a modern, technology-enabled academic library that supports teaching, learning, and research at the University of Bristol – Mumbai Campus. The role will ensure access to high-quality physical and digital resources aligned with University of Bristol (UK) standards, while meeting UGC and Indian higher education requirements.Key Responsibilities1. Library Strategy & DevelopmentDesign and implement a library strategy aligned with academic priorities and research goalsEstablish the library as a Learning Resource Centre integrating physical, digital, and collaborative learning spacesAlign services and collections with University of Bristol (UK) library standards and practices2. Collection Development & Resource ManagementDevelop and manage library collections, including:Print books, journals, and reference materialsE-books, e-journals, and databasesMultimedia and digital learning resourcesCollaborate with faculty to ensure curriculum-aligned acquisitionsManage subscriptions to global academic databases (e.g., JSTOR, Scopus)Ensure compliance with copyright and licensing requirements3. Digital Library & Systems ManagementImplement and manage Library Management Systems (LMS) and discovery toolsProvide seamless access to:Online catalogues (OPAC)Institutional repositoriesRemote access systems for students and facultyPromote the effective use of digital resources and research tools4. User Services & Student SupportDeliver user-centric services, including:Reference and research supportInformation literacy training and workshopsOrientation programmes for students and facultySupport students in academic research, citation practices, and the use of databases5. Library Operations & AdministrationOversee day-to-day library operations, including:Circulation servicesCataloguing and classification (e.g., Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress systems)Inventory management and auditsDevelop SOPs, policies, and service standardsEnsure optimal utilisation of library space, infrastructure, and resources6. Compliance & Quality StandardsEnsure compliance with:UGC norms for library resources and infrastructureInstitutional quality assurance frameworksSupport accreditation and audit processes by providing required documentation and data7. Stakeholder EngagementCollaborate with:Faculty and academic leadershipIT and digital services teamsStudent services and quality assurance teamsAct as a liaison with publishers, database providers, and library consortiaKey Deliverables / KPIsLibrary utilisation rates (physical and digital)Student and faculty satisfaction scoresAlignment of resources with academic programmesTimely acquisition and accessibility of resourcesCompliance with UGC and institutional quality assurance standardsEffectiveness of research support (faculty engagement, citation support)Qualifications & ExperienceMaster’s degree in Library & Information Science (MLISc / MLibSc) – essential4–7 years of experience in academic libraries, preferably within higher educationExperience in digital libraries and international academic environments preferredKey CompetenciesStrong knowledge of library science principles and digital resource managementUser-centric approach with a strong service orientationProficiency in library systems, tools, and academic databasesStrong stakeholder management and collaboration skillsExcellent analytical and organisational abilitiesPreferred AttributesExperience in setting up a new academic library or Learning Resource CentreFamiliarity with UK higher education library systems and practicesExposure to global research databases and scholarly communication trends
