The role focuses on high-availability cooling systems, energy efficiency, reliability, and compliance with global data centre standards. The ideal candidate has deep hands-on experience with large-scale data centres and a proven track record of delivering resilient, efficient mechanical solutions.Job Responsibilities:Design & EngineeringLead the design, review, and approval of mechanical systems including:Chilled water systemsAir-cooled and water-cooled chillersCRAH/CRAC unitsCooling towersPumps, piping, and heat exchangersHSD systemLC/CDU systemDevelop and review concept, schematic, and detailed designs for new and existing data centresPerform load calculations, airflow modelling, and redundancy analysis (N, N+1, 2N)Support retrofit and expansion projects with minimal downtimeOperations & ReliabilityEnsure 24/7 availability and reliability of mechanical systems in live data centre environmentsDevelop and review SOPs, MOPs, and EOPsLead root cause analysis for mechanical failures and implement corrective actionsOversee commissioning, testing, and integrated systems testing (IST)Energy Efficiency & SustainabilityDrive improvements in PUE, WUE, and overall energy efficiencyImplement best practices for free cooling, economization, and heat recoverySupport sustainability initiatives and carbon reduction goalsVendor & Project ManagementManage consultants, contractors, and OEMsReview technical submittals, shop drawings, and method statementsSupport budgeting, cost estimation, and value engineeringEnsure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specificationCompliance & StandardsEnsure compliance with applicable standards and codes such as:ASHRAE (TC 9.9)NFPAISOLocal building and safety codesParticipate in audits, inspections, and regulatory reviewsLeadership & CollaborationProvide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineersCollaborate with electrical, IT, facilities, and operations teamsAct as a subject matter expert for mechanical systems across the data center portfolioRequirements:Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (Master’s preferred)10+ years of experience in data centre or mission-critical facilitiesStrong expertise in cooling systems for high-density data centresHands-on experience with commissioning and live site operationsProficiency in engineering tools (AutoCAD, Revit, load calculation software)Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skillsKey CompetenciesHigh-availability system designRisk assessment and mitigationEnergy optimizationStakeholder and vendor managementAttention to detail in mission-critical environmentsOther Added AdvantageProfessional Engineer (PE) or equivalent certificationExperience with hyperscale or colocation data centresKnowledge of CFD analysisExperience in global or multi-site data centre environments
