Cana Consulting is partnering with a leading Asia-based hedge fund platform to hire a Legal Counsel in Mumbai. This is a high-impact role supporting a sophisticated multi-strategy investment business with active trading across global markets.Role OverviewYou will serve as a core member of the legal team, advising directly on trading, fund, and financing activities. The role sits close to the front office, working alongside portfolio managers, traders, and risk teams on a daily basis.Key ResponsibilitiesAdvise on derivatives and trading documentation, including:ISDA (incl. negotiation of schedules and CSAs)GMRA / GMSLA and other securities financing agreementsSupport legal aspects of fund structures, including setup, investor-related matters, and ongoing fund operationsProvide legal support on prime brokerage, clearing, custody, and trading platform arrangementsAssist on capital markets and financing transactions, including margin financing and structured arrangementsDraft and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements (technology, data, research, vendor, and services agreements)Partner closely with front office (PMs/traders), compliance, and operations to provide practical, risk-calibrated adviceManage and coordinate with external counsel across multiple jurisdictionsMonitor regulatory developments impacting trading strategies, market access, and fund operationsRequirementsQualified lawyer with 8–12 PQEExperience in a top-tier law firm and/or in-house with exposure to hedge funds, asset managers, investment banks, or trading platformsStrong experience in:Derivatives documentation (ISDA, CSA) – essentialSecurities financing (GMRA/GMSLA) – preferredFunds / asset management structuresCapital markets / financing transactionsFamiliarity with trading environments and front-office interaction is highly advantageousCommercial, responsive, and able to operate in a fast-paced, high-performance settingWhy ApplyJoin a well-established, multi-strategy hedge fund platform with strong APAC presenceHigh exposure to front-office decision-making and trading activitiesBroad, intellectually engaging role across markets, products, and jurisdictionsLean team with strong visibility and impactEA Lic: 24S2202 | CEI Reg: R2091776
