Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and result-oriented Head of Sales to lead and scale our Staples business. The role will be responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding market share, strengthening distribution networks, and building high-performing sales teams across regions.Key Responsibilities1. Business Strategy & GrowthDevelop and execute the overall sales strategy for Staples & Edible Oil categories.Drive topline growth, profitability, and market share expansion.Identify new market opportunities, geographies, and channels for growth.Collaborate with marketing and supply chain to align business objectives.2. Sales Operations & ExecutionLead national/regional sales operations across General Trade, Modern Trade, and Institutional channels.Ensure effective demand planning, forecasting, and inventory management.Monitor sales performance metrics and implement corrective actions.Drive excellence in execution, visibility, and product availability.3. Distribution & Channel ManagementStrengthen and expand distributor/dealer networks across key markets.Optimize route-to-market strategies for improved reach and efficiency.Build strong relationships with key accounts, retailers, and channel partners.4. Team Leadership & DevelopmentLead, mentor, and develop a high-performing sales team.Set clear KPIs and performance goals across regions.Drive a performance-driven culture with accountability and ownership.5. P&L ManagementOwn and manage the sales P&L for the category.Ensure achievement of revenue, margin, and cost targets.Monitor pricing strategies and trade spends for profitability.6. Market Intelligence & InsightsTrack competitor activities, pricing trends, and consumer insights.Use data-driven insights to refine strategies and improve performance.Provide regular updates to senior leadership on business performance.Key Requirements12+ years of experience in FMCG sales, preferably in Staples (Rice, Pulses, Atta) and Edible Oil categories.Proven track record of leading large-scale sales operations and delivering revenue growth.Strong understanding of distribution management and channel dynamics in India.Experience in handling multi-region teams and large distributor networks.Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.Preferred QualificationsMBA / PGDM in Sales, Marketing, or Business Management.Experience working with leading FMCG brands in staples or edible oil segments.
