Department:- Controls R&D · Manufacturing R&D DepartmentWe’re hiring the architect behind intelligent automation. If designing the brain behind high-speed automated warehouses excites you, this role is for you.Team Leader – PLC Controls, the position requires leading full lifecycle of control system design and delivery across R&D projects. This role also requires to architect, develop, commission, and continuously improve PLC-based automation solutions spanning warehouse logistics, ASRS, e-commerce fulfilment, and industrial manufacturing environments. You will lead a team of controls engineers, set the technical direction, and be the bridge between mechanical design, software integration, and customer expectations.---Key Responsibilities· Architect PLC-based control systems for complex automation solutions including ASRS, conveyor sortation, AGV/AMR integration, and GTP systems.Define I/O structures, control narratives, and functional specs from mechanical layouts. Design redundant system architectures to ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and zero single-point-of-failure across critical automation lines.· Translate customer requirements from multiple verticals (warehouse, logistics, e-commerce, pharma, F&B, automotive, packaging) into precise control architectures.· Write, review, and optimise PLC code across all IEC 61131-3 languages — Ladder Logic (LD), Structured Text (ST), Function Block Diagram (FBD), Instruction List (IL), and Sequential Function Chart (SFC) — as well as SCL (Structured Control Language) for Siemens platforms.· Develop reusable modular code libraries and integrate with WMS/WCS layers.· Design and commission servo and drive systems — tune dynamic motion profiles, validate performance against spec, and deliver precision positioning in high-throughput environments.· Apply mechanics, dynamics, and applied trigonometry to develop motion profiles and physics-based control loops. Ensure accuracy, stability, and repeatability at system level.· Own fault diagnosis during commissioning and post-deployment. Use 5-Why, FMEA, PLC log analysis, and systematic RCA to resolve issues fast — especially in live warehouse environments.· Work closely with mechanical teams to ensure perfect synchronisation between physical systems and control logic. Catch design conflicts early. Participate in design reviews.· Actively use AI tools (code generation, fault diagnosis, documentation, simulation) to accelerate R&D output. Drive AI adoption within the controls team.· Stay ahead of where automation is going — not just where it is today. Modern PLCs support multiple programming languages, open standards (OPC-UA, MQTT, edge computing), and are converging with cloud, digital twins, and AI inference at the controller level. Evaluate emerging platforms proactively and guide the team toward architectures that won’t be obsolete in five years.· Lead FAT/SAT testing, create test protocols, ensure compliance with IEC, ISO, and safety standards (IEC 62061 / ISO 13849). Maintain a zero-defect mindset from day one.---Key Skills & CompetenciesTechnical Skills:· PLC programming across IEC 61131-3 languages: Ladder Logic (LD), Structured Text (ST), Function Block Diagram (FBD), Instruction List (IL), Sequential Function Chart (SFC), and SCL (Structured Control Language) for Siemens platforms.· Design and commission of servo and drive systems, including tuning of motion profiles and dynamic positioning in high-throughput environments.· Application of mechanics, dynamics, and applied trigonometry to develop motion profiles and physics-based control loops.· Use of industrial communication standards and protocols (e.g., OPC-UA, MQTT, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus, PROFIBUS) and emerging open-standards–based architectures.· Familiarity with WMS/WCS PLC integration and digital-twin–type environments.· Experience with FAT/SAT planning, test-protocol creation, and compliance with IEC/ISO safety standards (IEC 62061 / ISO 13849).· Use of PLC log analysis, trending tools, and fault-diagnosis methods for quick RCA in live warehouse environments.Behavioural Skills:· Strong leadership and ability to lead a team of controls engineers, set technical direction, and mentor junior engineers.· Structured and systematic root-cause analysis mindset using 5-Why, FMEA, and RCA.· Collaborative working style with mechanical, software, and operations teams.· Proactive awareness of future automation trends and eagerness to adopt AI-augmented engineering practices.· High-ownership, problem-solving attitude in high-pressure, live-warehouse-automation environments with zero-tolerance-for-downtime mindset.---Educational Qualification BE/B Tech in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation / Mechatronics
