Job DescriptionAbout the RoleThis role requires an experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) who has deep domain expertise in both power generation and coal supply chains. The individual will be instrumental in optimizing the client’s operations by refining coal procurement strategies and improving power generation efficiency.Engagement DetailsCommitment Type: Part Time (Indian Standard Time)Duration: 3 MonthsLocation: RemoteStart Date: ImmediateTasks & DeliverablesCoal Sourcing & Procurement: Manage coal sourcing activities, including linkage coal, e-auctions, and imported coal to ensure cost-effectiveness and reliability.Power-Related Inputs: Evaluate and optimize the procurement of equipment and negotiate long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs).Operational Analysis: Conduct detailed assessments of operational workflows in CHPP and power plants to identify inefficiencies and recommend interventions.Cost Reduction Initiatives: Lead initiatives focused on coal blending optimization, freight cost reduction, and enhancing fuel efficiency.Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with India-specific frameworks, including Coal India linkage policies, CERC and SERC guidelines.Benchmarking & Insights: Provide benchmarking insights and support data-driven decision-making pertaining to the complete power and coal lifecycle.Required SkillsProven expertise in coal sourcing, including linkage and e-auctions.Comprehensive understanding of CHPP operations and power plant workflows.Strong track record in implementing cost reduction strategies.Familiarity with regulatory frameworks: Coal India linkage policies, CERC, and SERC guidelines.Ability to provide strategic insights for operational optimization.Experience in the Indian power and coal sectors.Nice-to-have SkillsExperience with coal blending techniques.Knowledge of grid management and energy procurement strategies.
