About the Role We are looking for a Data Engineer specializing in Grafana and data visualization platforms to help us build and productize visualization capabilities within our industrial CMMS platform. This role goes beyond dashboard creation — you will embed and integrate Grafana into a commercial on-premise product , enabling real-time monitoring, customizable dashboards, and scalable data-driven insights for industrial environments. You will play a key role in shaping how data is collected, processed, and visualized across our platform, with future opportunities to evolve into enterprise-grade product architecture . What You Will Do Design and implement Grafana dashboards for industrial monitoring and analytics Embed Grafana into our platform (iframe, reverse proxy, API integration) Enable user-driven dashboard customization (variables, filters, layouts) Integrate Grafana with multiple data sources (SQL, APIs, time-series DBs) Build and optimize data pipelines for real-time and large-scale data processing Collaborate with backend engineers on data ingestion and architecture Ensure performance, scalability, and usability in on-premise environments Contribute to evolving our architecture from OSS-based to enterprise-grade solutions Required Skills Grafana & Visualization Strong hands-on experience with Grafana (dashboards, panels, variables) Experience embedding or integrating Grafana into applications Experience with time-series and analytical data Data Engineering Experience with SQL and time-series databases (Prometheus, TimescaleDB) Understanding of data modeling and query optimization Experience integrating APIs and handling JSON / semi-structured data Platform Integration Experience with REST APIs and backend systems Understanding of authentication (SSO, reverse proxy, token-based access) Strong understanding of data flow (ingestion → storage → visualization) Work Style Strong problem-solving skills and ownership mindset Ability to work independently in a remote environment Excellent communication skills Nice to Have Experience with industrial data, IoT, or monitoring systems Experience with streaming technologies (Kafka, MQTT) Experience customizing Grafana (plugins, extensions) Understanding of open-source licensing (e.g., AGPL) Experience in SaaS and/or on-premise software environments Exposure to AI-driven analytics or anomaly detection Benefits Fully remote position Work with a global SaaS + AI engineering team Opportunity to contribute to industrial AI product development Performance-based incentives Flexible and collaborative working culture ⚠ Important Notes Must be available during Korea Standard Time (KST) 9:00–18:00 Candidates without hands-on Grafana experience will not be considered About Smarterbuild Smarterbuild is a South Korea-based software company building next-generation industrial platforms.
