Job Description

Role Overview The GM / Sr. GM – Procurement leads the complete procurement function for EPC projects, ensuring timely, cost-effective and quality acquisition of materials, equipment and subcontracted services. This role involves strategic sourcing, vendor management, contract negotiation, supply chain risk mitigation and coordination with engineering, planning, project sites and commercial teams to support successful project execution. Key Responsibilities Develop procurement strategies aligned with project schedules, budgets and technical requirements. Prepare annual procurement plans and category-wise sourcing strategies. Ensure standardization of procurement processes, systems and documentation across the organization. Forecast procurement needs based on project pipelines and planning inputs. Negotiate contractual terms on pricing, technical specs, delivery, warranty, LD, payment terms, guarantees and performance obligations. Ensure back-to-back alignment with main EPC contract requirements. Finalize purchase orders, work orders, long-term rate agreements and master supply agreements. Identify, evaluate and onboard new vendors and subcontractors Build long-term supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply and competitive pricing. Evaluate vendor performance through quality, delivery and commercial KPIs. Conduct vendor audits, capability assessment, capacity checks and compliance verification. Lead the RFQ, RFP, bid evaluation and techno-commercial negotiation processes. Ensure fair, transparent and competitive procurement through multi-bid analysis. Monitor and expedite supply of materials, equipment and services as per baseline schedule. Track shop inspections, FAT, dispatch clearance, logistics arrangements, customs clearance and delivery to site. Coordinate with QA/QC, engineering and project management teams to resolve technical or delivery issues. Ensure timely availability of critical path items. Implement cost-saving initiatives, value engineering and alternative sourcing options. Develop and maintain cost databases for benchmarks across materials and services. Track price trends of steel, cement, cables, equipment, fuel and other key commodities. Ensure adherence to procurement SOPs and Delegation of Authority (DoA). Implement ERP-based procurement systems (SAP) Mitigate procurement risks such as delays, price volatility, vendor defaults and quality issues. Ensure statutory compliance (GST, import regulations, BOE, QA standards). Lead and mentor a team of procurement managers, buyers, expeditors and logistics coordinators. Coordinate with engineering, planning, contracts, commercial, finance, quality and project sites. Resolve escalations related to vendor disputes, contract terms and supply bottlenecks. Provide periodic MIS reports to senior management on procurement progress, risks and savings. Key Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of EPC procurement, supply chain and category management. Expertise in techno-commercial negotiations and contract finalization. Familiarity with industry codes, specifications and manufacturing processes. Excellent vendor management and stakeholder communication skills. Strong analytical, leadership and decision-making abilities.
