JOB DESCRIPTION Role Overview We are looking for an experienced Feed Consultant with strong expertise in animal nutrition and feed formulation, especially in aquaculture and poultry. The role focuses on developing and promoting sustainable feed solutions using alternative proteins such as Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL). This position requires both technical expertise and advisory capabilities to support clients, optimize feed formulations, and drive adoption of sustainable feed practices. Key Responsibilities 1. Core Business Understanding • Understand the company’s model: organic waste to insect protein (BSFL) to animal feed and fertilizer • Promote alternative protein sources as substitutes for traditional fishmeal and soy • Support product positioning in global and domestic markets 2. Animal Nutrition Expertise Aquaculture (High Priority) • Develop feed solutions for fish and shrimp • Optimize protein and amino acid balance • Improve feed conversion ratio (FCR) • Enable replacement of fishmeal with BSFL Poultry Nutrition • Formulate broiler and layer feed • Improve digestibility, gut health, and immunity Pet Nutrition (Preferred) • Work on amino acids, fatty acids, and palatability • Develop functional and premium feed solutions 3. Feed Formulation & Optimization • Develop least-cost feed formulations • Substitute traditional ingredients with BSFL effectively • Balance protein, energy, and lipid content (including BSF oil) • Use formulation tools such as Excel or feed software (WinFeed or similar) • Define inclusion levels of BSFL without impacting performance 4. Alternative Protein & BSFL Expertise • Understand nutritional profile of BSFL (protein, fat, lauric acid) • Evaluate digestibility vs fishmeal and soy • Define inclusion limits across species (fish, poultry, pet food) • Promote benefits such as immunity enhancement and antimicrobial properties 5. Sustainability & Circular Economy • Promote sustainable feed solutions and reduced environmental impact • Understand waste-to-protein lifecycle • Support ESG and eco-friendly product positioning • Educate stakeholders on sustainable practices 6. Commercial & Advisory Role • Conduct cost-benefit analysis (BSFL vs fishmeal/soy) • Demonstrate ROI to farmers and feed manufacturers • Support product commercialization and pricing strategies • Deliver technical presentations and client education sessions 7. Industry & Process Knowledge • Understand feed mill operations (pelleting, extrusion) • Knowledge of raw material handling and storage • Ensure feed quality and shelf-life standards 8. Client Handling & Business Development • Interact with farmers, feed mills, and distributors • Provide on-ground technical support and troubleshooting • Build long-term client relationships • Support business development initiatives 9. Data Analysis & Field Trials • Conduct feed trials and performance evaluations • Analyze growth rate, FCR, and survival data • Prepare technical reports and comparative studies • Provide actionable insights for improvement 10. Advanced / Preferred Skills • Knowledge of BSFL farming and production systems • Understanding of waste management processes • Exposure to automation in feed plants • Awareness of IoT / smart farming solutions Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Technical Performance • Improvement in FCR and animal growth rates • Successful replacement (%) of fishmeal with BSFL • Feed formulation accuracy and efficiency Commercial Impact • Adoption rate of BSFL-based feed solutions • Client acquisition and retention • Contribution to revenue from feed solutions Cost Optimization • Reduction in feed cost per ton • Improved profitability for customers Client Success • Customer satisfaction and repeat business • Effectiveness of technical advisory • Resolution time for client issues Field Performance • Success rate of feed trials • Performance improvement vs traditional feed • Quality and accuracy of reports Sustainability Impact • Reduction in carbon footprint (indicative) • Promotion of circular economy solutions Key Skills Required • Strong expertise in animal nutrition (aquaculture preferred) • Hands-on experience in feed formulation • Knowledge of alternative proteins (BSFL preferred) • Analytical and problem-solving skills • Strong communication and advisory capabilities • Proficiency in Excel and feed formulation tools Preferred Qualifications • B.Tech / M.Tech in Animal Nutrition / Fisheries / Poultry / Feed Technology • Experience in aquafeed or poultry feed industry • Exposure to sustainable or alternative protein systems Candidate Profile • 5 – 7+ years of relevant experience • Strong technical and commercial understanding • Ability to work remotely and manage client interactions • Passion for sustainability and innovation in feed
