Location : Karnataka About the Role We are looking for a Head of Safety & Environment for the Coke and Power Plant Division whose will be planning, implementing and managing project construction and plant operational safety and environment. 1. Planning, documenting, training, implementing and managing all activities related fire, safety and environment pertaining to project construction and plant operations including process and workplace safety.. 2. Preparation of monthly MIS with accident statistics including near miss cases and mitigation activities. 3. Delivering toolbox talks, special safety instructions and safety training. 4. Managing stocks of safety appliances, PPEs and special safety gears as required. Principal Accountabilities Process Initiation & training Planning and documenting detailed safety procedure and train all stakeholders during construction and subsequent operations. Direct and Manage construction and operational safety Direct and manage construction and operational safety through construction lifecycle and subsequent operations. Monitor and Control Project / Operational safety Monitor and control all construction and operational activities with an aim to identify unsafe practices and non-compliance of environmental norms and make required revision in the safety procedures. Supporting Actions · Preparation of construction safety rules / manual pertaining to coke oven and power projects and operations. · Preparation of various permits required for working in hazardous areas like, height, confined space, electrical, gaseous environment and LOTO methodology. · Train all stakeholders working in the construction and O & M · Implement safety rules across all areas of construction and O&M in the subsequent phase. · Enforce 100% PPE compliance. · Implement Work permit system and strict adherence to safety rules with a ‘0’ accident approach. · Manage house-keeping · Comply with general and specific conditions of EC and CFE and liaison with KSPCB and Director of factories on regular basis. · Submit 6-monthly project compliance reports to MoEF and local regulators. · Continuous safety training and toolbox talks. · Arrange safety and housekeeping audits. · Conduct HAZOP / HAZID studies and implement recommendations. · Quality assurance, quality audits and inspection overview · Continuous tracking of strict adherence to safety rules · Continuous risk identification and monitoring Mandatory Requiremtents: 1 Diploma in Engineering with BE/ B.Tech from AICTE approved technical/engineering school with Diploma in Industrial Safety OR M. Sc in Science/Technology with Diploma in Industrial Safety. 2 Training in Fire Safety from Govt. approved training institute. 3 Certified BOE (Boiler Operations Engineer) Experience 1. 7-8 years of experience in managing construction and operational safety in a core industry preferably in a steel and power plant. 2. Exposure in handling job safety protocols and statutary accident formalities. 3. Planning and implementation of work permit system//LOTO Preferable 1 Conversant with Environment regulations and associated documentations 2 At least 5 years of experience in coke oven and power plant.
