Job Description

Role Vision At Foodstories, food is not a category. It is a language. A system. A way of life. We are building a platform where every ingredient, every product, and every experience reflects a clear, confident point of view on taste. As Chief Taste Officer, you will partner closely with the founders and work alongside a core team of chefs, commissary leaders, and category experts to architect that world — shaping how Foodstories tastes, what it stands for, and how it comes alive across retail, café, and beyond. This is not a culinary role in the traditional sense. It is a mandate to build a cohesive culinary universe — where sourcing, product, experience, and storytelling come together seamlessly. The Mandate You are the custodian and builder of taste at Foodstories. You will: - Translate vision into systems - Turn ideas into categories - Bring coherence across teams, formats, and experiences You will operate at the intersection of: - Founders - Chefs and kitchen teams - Commissary and production - Category and sourcing Ensuring that every part of the business speaks the same culinary language. This is about building clarity in a world of excess — together. What You Will Build 1. Categories That Lead, Not Follow Reimagine everyday categories into distinctive, leadership formats. Identify whitespace. Build new sub-categories. Launch seasonal drops and signature ranges that create anticipation. Everything must feel intentional, differentiated, and ahead. 2. A Clear, Cohesive Foodstories Point of View Help define and sharpen what Foodstories stands for in food. Build conviction around ingredients, sourcing, and quality. Apply a strong filter to curation. Not everything belongs — you will help decide what earns its place. 3. One Seamless Culinary Narrative Ensure Foodstories speaks one language across: - Retail - Café - Packaged products - Experiences Align chefs, commissary, and category teams to a shared vision — so every touchpoint feels connected. 4. The Café as an Extension of the Shelf Work closely with chefs to design menus that are ingredient-led and aligned with retail. What customers eat, they should be able to take home. What they discover in-store should come alive on the plate. Balance creativity with consistency, speed, and scale. 5. From Idea to System Partner with commissary and production teams to translate ideas into scalable formats. Build the backend: - Recipes → production → shelf - SOPs across categories - Systems that ensure consistency and integrity Ensure that creativity holds up in execution. 6. Gold Standards of Quality Define and uphold uncompromising benchmarks across teams. Taste. Freshness. Ingredients. Provenance. Work with sourcing, QA, and production to ensure every product reflects Foodstories standards. 7. Experiences That Deepen Engagement Collaborate with chefs and teams to design tastings, workshops, and in-store experiences. Turn knowledge into participation. Turn discovery into memory. 8. A System That Learns Stay deeply connected to the customer. Work with teams to understand evolving preferences and behaviors. Use insight and data to refine and evolve continuously. Who You Are You are not defined by your title. You are defined by how you think about food — and how you bring people together around it. You might be: - A chef who has moved beyond the kitchen - A culinary leader who has built menus, products, or brands - Someone deeply experienced in sourcing, production, and food systems But more importantly: - You have a strong, thoughtful point of view on food - You are comfortable working across teams and aligning diverse stakeholders - You think in systems, not just dishes - You balance craft with scale - You are obsessed with quality, detail, and coherence Why This Role Matters Foodstories exists to improve quality of life through food. Our customers are seeking: - Purity - Provenance - Depth - Confidence This role ensures that promise is delivered — consistently, across every team and every touchpoint. Closing This is not a role for someone who wants to run a kitchen. This is for someone who can bring people, ideas, and systems together — to shape categories, build coherence, and define how Foodstories shows up through food.
