Job summaryProduct Certification to support regulatory compliance and product certification activities for products being launched or imported into India. The contractor will collaborate with engineering, quality, regulatory teams & third-party testing/certification agencies to ensure timely approvals from Indian regulatory bodies including BIS, WPC, TEC, BEE and others as applicable.The Engineer is also responsible for working with New Product Introduction processes to ensure that new products meet relevant product regulations and certification requirements.KEY REQUIREMENTSIdentify mandatory certification requirements for products under various Indian regulations (e.g., BIS CRS, ISI marking, WPC ETA, TEC MTCTE, BEE etc.).Conduct regulatory impact assessments for new products and product revisions.Create certification roadmaps, timelines, and compliance plans.Prepare, compile, and review all technical documentation required for certification: Test reports (ISO/IEC standards), Technical construction files (TCF), Safety and EMC reports, Product drawings, BoM, user manuals, datasheets, RF test reports (if applicable)Submit applications to regulatory bodies and track approvals.Maintain documentation in compliance management systems.Coordinate product testing with accredited labs in India (NABL) or overseas.Ensure products meet required Indian Standards (IS) and schedule re-testing if necessary.Review test reports for accuracy and completeness.Coordinate product testing with accredited labs in India (NABL) or overseas.Ensure products meet required Indian Standards (IS) and schedule re-testing if necessary.Review test reports for accuracy and completeness.Act as primary contact with certifying bodies and government agencies such as: BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards)WPC (Wireless Planning & Coordination)TEC (Telecommunication Engineering Centre)BEE (Bureau of Energy Efficiency)Liaise with local representatives, customs brokers, and certification agents.Track regulatory updates and standards revisions applicable to the product category.Support market surveillance requirements and annual renewals.Identify compliance risks and propose mitigation actions.Prepare weekly progress reports, certification dashboards, and risk summaries.Maintain detailed certification records and archives.Experience and EducationBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electronics or Electrical field).6–8 years of experience in Indian product certification or regulatory compliance.Strong understanding of at least two Indian certification schemes (e.g., BIS CRS + WPC; BIS + BEE; TEC + BIS, etc.).Desired qualificationsKnowledge of Indian Standards (IS), IEC, ISO, and RF/EMC testing.Proficiency with certification portals (e.g., BIS, TEC etc).Familiarity with lab processes and test measurement equipment.Strong documentation and reporting skills.Experience in project management techniques and processes.
