Summary:We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchase Executive to join our team, specializing in procurement for water and wastewater management projects. The ideal candidate will manage the sourcing, purchasing, and supply chain for equipment, materials, and services related to water treatment, wastewater processing, and associated infrastructure. In addition to procurement duties, this role involves supporting operation and maintenance (O&M) activities to ensure seamless project execution, cost efficiency, and compliance with environmental and safety standards.Key Responsibilities Procurement Management: Identify, evaluate, and select vendors for water and wastewater-related supplies, including pumps, filters, chemicals (e.g., coagulants, disinfectants), piping, valves, membranes, and treatment equipment. Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to achieve cost savings while maintaining quality and delivery timelines. Prepare and issue purchase orders, track deliveries, and manage inventory levels to prevent stockouts or overstocking. Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and pricing fluctuations in the water and wastewater sector. Ensure all purchases comply with regulatory standards, such as those from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), ISO certifications, and environmental norms. Operation and Maintenance Support: Collaborate with O&M teams to assess equipment needs for ongoing water treatment plants, sewage treatment facilities, and wastewater recycling systems. Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance procurement, including spare parts, tools, and service contracts for systems like RO plants, UV disinfection units, and effluent treatment plants (ETPs). Monitor equipment performance and maintenance schedules to minimize downtime, ensuring timely procurement of replacement parts. Assist in budgeting for O&M activities, tracking expenses, and reporting on cost variances. Support on-site inspections and audits to verify the quality of delivered goods and their integration into operational processes. Supply Chain and Vendor Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and stakeholders in the water and wastewater industry. Resolve issues related to supply delays, quality discrepancies, or disputes efficiently. Implement inventory management systems (e.g., ERP software) to optimize stock for water and wastewater projects. Compliance and Reporting: Ensure adherence to company policies, legal requirements, and safety protocols in all procurement and O&M activities. Prepare reports on procurement metrics, such as cost savings, supplier performance, and O&M efficiency. Contribute to sustainability initiatives by prioritizing eco-friendly and energy-efficient purchases. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental), Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A diploma in relevant areas may be considered with substantial experience. 5+ years of experience in procurement, preferably in the water, wastewater, or environmental services industry. Prior exposure to operation and maintenance in treatment plants or infrastructure projects is highly desirable. Certification in procurement (e.g., Certified Purchasing Professional) or knowledge of water treatment standards (e.g., BIS/IS norms) is a plus. Skills and Competencies: Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle). Knowledge of water and wastewater technologies, including treatment processes, equipment specifications, and regulatory compliance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for vendor and team interactions. Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and travel to sites as needed.
