We call these programmes ‘Pathways’.We operate Pathways colleges in the UK and across the US, Australia and Asia Pacific, supporting thousands of students each year.The DepartmentThis is a permanent, full-time role within a newly formed India-based extension of the UK Finance team, supporting the UK Pathways business and wider global finance function.As part of this growing team, you will play a key role in establishing robust financial accounting processes, strengthening internal controls, and delivering a high-quality month-end close and reporting cycle. The team works closely with UK and International colleagues within a global finance framework.You will collaborate with member of the Operational Finance team and report to the Finance Manager – Revenue.This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our new expansion in Bengaluru with the scope to influence processes, embed best practices, and support future scalability.The RoleWe are seeking a qualified accountant (CA / ACCA / CPA or equivalent) to take end-to-end ownership of Revenue and Billing for the UK Pathways business.This is a technically demanding and high-accountability role. You will be responsible for ensuring revenue is recognised accurately and in compliance with UK GAAP and US GAAP reporting requirements, maintaining the integrity of the receivables subledger, and ensuring all associated controls operate effectively.This role requires independent judgement, technical interpretation, proactive issue resolution, and ownership of outcomes.Key ResponsibilitiesRevenue Recognition & Technical AccountingHave ownership of revenue recognition for UK Pathways Colleges and UK ResidencesEnsure compliance with UK GAAP revenue recognition principles and support US GAAP reporting adjustmentsPerform and review monthly UK GAAP to US GAAP conversion adjustments, demonstrating understanding of framework differencesAct as the subject matter expert for revenue accounting within the India teamSubledger & Billing ControlOwn the integrity and control of the receivables subledgerOversee invoicing flows from subledger to general ledger as part of month-end processesInvestigate discrepancies, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actionsEnsure student accounts are maintained accurately in line with contractual terms and conditionsStrengthen controls around billing accuracy and revenue cut-offMonth-End & Balance Sheet OwnershipPrepare and review month-end journals relating to revenue and associated areasTake accountability for the preparation and active management of deferred income balance sheet reconciliationsEnsure reconciliations are robust, fully supported, and audit-readyDeliver month-end outputs accurately and in line with agreed reporting timetablesStakeholder ManagementAct as the primary contact for revenue and billing mattersProvide guidance and technical support to colleges and internal stakeholdersCommunicate clearly and confidently across geographiesPartner with UK finance colleagues to ensure smooth operational deliveryProjects & Process ImprovementAs part of the evolving India Finance function, this role will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including:Driving process automation within revenue and billing workflowsEnhancing reporting through tools such as Power Query, Power BI or ERP-based automationSupporting system improvements impacting revenue accountingStrengthening documentation and control frameworks in line with SOX requirementsIdentifying and implementing scalable improvements as transaction volumes growBeing part of the future planned finance ledger change from Great Plains to Business CentralThis role requires someone comfortable not only operating processes, but improving and redesigning them where necessary.About YouQualificationsFully qualified accountant (CA / ACCA / CPA or equivalent)2+ years’ post-qualification experience in financial accounting or reportingExperienceStrong technical understanding of UK GAAP; exposure to US GAAP advantageousExperience owning revenue accounting or a high-volume transactional accounting areaExperience working within structured month-end reporting environmentsPrior experience in multinational or shared services environments desirableTechnical SkillsAdvanced Excel skills (large dataset handling, pivot tables, XLOOKUP, Power Query advantageous)Comfortable analysing high-volume billing dataInterest in automation and finance systems enhancementPersonal AttributesDemonstrates ownership and accountability for outputsTo have ownership of your core areas but also supporting the team to achieve the overall month end deliveryStrong analytical and problem-solving mindsetHigh attention to detail with ability to self-reviewAble to work to tight deadlines without compromising qualityConfident communicator capable of influencing stakeholdersDesirableHave experience with the new ERP system Business Central or our existing system Great Plains Experience using tools such as Power Query, Power BI, workflow automation tools to improve reporting and close efficiency would be advantageous.What We OfferOpportunity to be part of a newly established and growing India Finance teamOwnership of a key accounting area within a global organisationExposure to UK GAAP, US GAAP and SOX frameworksInvolvement in finance transformation initiativesCompetitive salary and benefits
