Position OverviewThe EAL Teacher supports students in developing the language skills needed to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life. The role includes assessment, targeted instruction, close collaboration with teaching staff, and contribution to an inclusive, language-rich learning environment.Key Responsibilities1. Assessment and PlacementConduct initial language assessments (entry testing) for new students.Administer ongoing formative assessments and mid-point evaluations.Carry out summative assessments to monitor progress and inform next steps.Analyse assessment data to determine students’ language proficiency levels.Decide on the level and intensity of EAL support required for each student.2. Programme Planning and OrganisationDesign and coordinate individual and group EAL support programmes.Develop and manage EAL timetables in alignment with students’ academic schedules.Allocate students to appropriate support groups based on proficiency and need.Ensure flexibility of provision based on ongoing assessment and progress.3. Teaching and LearningProvide targeted EAL instruction through:small group teachingone-to-one supportin-class support (push-in model)Support students in developing speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.Facilitate access to the curriculum through language scaffolding and adapted materials.Promote confidence and independence in language use.4. In-Class Support and DifferentiationWork collaboratively with subject and homeroom teachers to support language learners in the classroom.Assist teachers in planning and implementing differentiated instruction for EAL students.Provide strategies, resources, and guidance to staff on language development and inclusive practices.Model effective scaffolding techniques and language-support strategies.5. Collaboration and CommunicationCollaborate closely with English teachers and homeroom/class teachers.Participate actively in team meetings, planning sessions, and collaborative planning structures.Communicate student progress and needs clearly with colleagues and leadership.Engage with parents where appropriate regarding student progress and support strategies.6. Professional ResponsibilitiesContribute to the development and implementation of the school’s EAL/Language Policy.Maintain accurate records of assessments, progress, and provision.Participate in professional development related to language acquisition and inclusive education.Support school’s mission and values, particularly in fostering international-mindedness and inclusion.7. Qualifications and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Education or English (Master’s preferred).Certified teacher with experience in the IB MYP (minimum 2 years preferred).A minimum 120-hour accredited TEFL/TESOL certification is highly preferred.Native/near-native English proficiency required with a high TOEFL or IELTS score.Strong command over the English language.Proficient in educational technology and blended learning practices.Interested candidates should email their updated CV with cover letter at
