Job Description

Role Summary / Overview: To support the Research & Engineering Standardization team by managing, formatting, and maintaining all technical documentation. This role ensures that crucial engineering data, such as material catalogs, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), and technical reports, are systematically organized, up-to-date, and easily accessible for the broader engineering, detailing, and fabrication teams.ResponsibilitiesAssist the Manager in drafting, formatting, and updating standardized material catalogs (metals, auxiliary materials, hardware, and meshes).Maintain the central repository for the /"Approved Hardware List/" and ensure all updates are properly logged, version-controlled, and distributed.Draft and accurately format formal technical documents, including Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for surface finishes and machining.Organize, file, and digitize research data, feasibility reports, and cost-impact assessments for easy retrieval by cross-functional teams.Ensure strict version control on all departmental engineering standards and standardization documents to prevent the use of outdated information.Coordinate with the drafting, detailing, and fabrication teams to distribute newly updated standards, hardware lists, and procedure guidelines.Assist in compiling and presenting data for technical reports regarding machinery, software, and tooling optimization.Work Conditions (Site visits, travel, etc.) Primarily an office-based role focused on computer-aided documentation, record-keeping, and data management, requiring regular coordination with internal technical teams. Occasional travel to vendor locations is required to directly understand material details, manufacturing processes, and hardware specifications for accurate documentation.Education / ExperienceEducation: Diploma or B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field. (Candidates with a non-engineering degree but with strong technical documentation experience in a manufacturing/engineering firm may also be considered).Experience: 1-2 years of experience in technical documentation, document control, data entry, or engineering support roles.Skills & CompetenciesDocumentation & Formatting: High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and document management systems.AI Tool Proficiency: Skilled in utilizing new AI-based documentation and presentation software to streamline technical writing, formatting, and report generation.Technical Comprehension: Basic understanding of engineering terminology, architectural metal works, and manufacturing/fabrication processes.Organization: Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills for managing large volumes of technical specifications and data.Version Control: Understanding of document revision tracking and proper record management protocols.Communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with engineering managers, production teams, and external vendors.Key Search Words Technical Documentation, Document Controller, Engineering Support, R&D Assistant, Material Cataloging, SOP Formatting, WPS Documentation, Junior Executive, AI Documentation Tools, Vendor Coordination.Candidates who possess excellent MS Office, formatting, and organizational skills, along with a demonstrated ability to adapt to new AI-based productivity tools, will be preferred.
