Job Title

Primary Purpose:Technical Illustrator will provide process documentation support in assigned manufacturing areas. The Technical Illustrator will develop manufacturing work instructions in alignment with Generac’s standard operating model for new and existing products. The Technical Illustrator will effectively translate key process characteristics, safe work practices, product quality control measures and improved work methods into the process documentation.Major Responsibilities :Prioritize daily efforts in alignment with the primary operational excellence pillars - Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity.Promote a safe work culture through enforcement of safety rules and positive reinforcement of safe work behaviors. Address all safety-related items immediately.Support Lean manufacturing methodology to drive process improvements.Support introduction of new products to manufacturing by developing required manufacturing process instructionWork with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery of work instructions.Maintain required process documentation for new and existing products. Recommend manufacturing cost reductions for new and existing products.Review processes and implement changes to adhere to quality control guidelines and engineering specifications.Participate in special or derivative products reviews to estimate process capabilities and requirements.Assist in efforts to optimize processes.Effectively communicate with a positive demeanor to all Generac team members.Act as SAP Super User within functional area as assigned.Perform duties as assigned by supervisor.EducationAssociates degree in an engineering or drafting fieldWork Experience3 years' experience in technical writing role2 years' experience with products, processes and equipment consistent with a durable goods manufacturing environment.Knowledge / Skills / AbilitiesExperience with engine powered products is a plus;Working knowledge of technical publishing software packages;Solid PC and software familiarity, including Microsoft Office applications and modern ERP systems; Experience manipulating, extracting and editing 3D models;Strong mechanical aptitude, ability to understand complex product drawings;Good oral, written, organizational and communication skills are essential;Ability to work collaboratively and productively with all types of people throughout the organization.Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP.
