Role OverviewThe counselor will be responsible for addressing the mental health and behavioral needs of students aged 15–18. The role will focus on providing a safe, supportive, and confidential environment for adolescents facing the typical challenges and issues of this age group. This role emphasizes early identification, basic evaluation, awareness-building, and referral, rather than long-term therapy or career guidance. The psychologist will serve as a vital bridge between students, parents, teachers, and external professionals, ensuring holistic care and timely intervention. Key Responsibilities For StudentsConduct one-on-one counseling sessions to provide immediate support in a safe and confidential setting.Perform basic evaluations and share observations with the principal, relevant faculty, and parents if the situation demands it.Conduct classroom awareness sessions on adolescent mental health, stress management, bullying, relationships, and resilience.Refer students to external professionals for ongoing counseling, therapy, or intervention when required.Create a safe and non-judgmental space where students feel comfortable to discuss even the most sensitive issues. For ParentsEffectively communicate concerns regarding their child’s behavioral and mental health challenges.Guide parents on supportive approaches at home, while reducing fear and stigma associated with mental health.Educate parents on the long-term consequences of neglecting behavioral and emotional concerns.Conduct periodic online awareness sessions on understanding the adolescent mindset and effective parenting strategies. For TeachersConduct workshops and awareness sessions on the adolescent mindset, mental health, and behavioral management.Equip teachers to identify signs of learning difficulties, emotional distress, and behavioral challenges in students.Support faculty in handling sensitive classroom situations with empathy and effectiveness.Provide strategies to engage with students whose parents may be in denial about learning, behavioral or even undiagnosed mental health issues. Qualities & Skills RequiredHigh empathy, patience, and active listening skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and staff.Non-judgmental, open-minded, and culturally sensitive approach.Ability to maintain confidentiality and foster trust.Professional integrity and strong ethical values.Skilled at creating awareness sessions and workshops tailored to different audiences. Academic QualificationsMaster’s degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from a top recognized institution.Minimum of 5 years’ experience in counseling adolescents and addressing adolescent-specific mental health issues.Valid licensure or certification, as required. Work ScheduleFull-time, on-campus role during college working hours of 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.Requires flexibility for occasional after-school hours for parent sessions or special workshops.
