About Rustlines:Rustlines is India’s first denim house built around handcrafted innovation, small-batch production, and design-led experimentation. Every product is developed with intent, from fabric selection to wash processes to final detailing. As we scale our collections and deepen our design language, we’re looking for a full-time Fashion Designer who understands fabric, sourcing, and real-world production, and can take ownership from concept to final sample.Role Overview:As a Fashion Designer at Rustlines, you will work closely with the founders and production team to design, develop, and execute apparel across denim, jackets, cargos, co-ord sets, and experimental drops. This role is for someone who knows fashion beyond sketches, someone who understands how fabric behaves, how sourcing works, and how good design translates into wearable, sellable products.Key Responsibilities:1) Design & Product DevelopmentConceptualize and design new products, collections, and limited-edition dropsCreate design sketches, moodboards, colour stories, and detailing conceptsDevelop silhouettes, fits, washes, trims, and construction detailsTranslate creative ideas into production-ready designs2) Fabric & Material ExpertiseWork closely with denim, knits, and woven fabricsEvaluate GSM, fabric construction, stretch properties, durability, and wash compatibilitySelect appropriate fabrics based on design intent, comfort, and longevity3) Sourcing & Vendor CoordinationSource fabrics, trims, hardware, and accessories from vendors and millsCoordinate with suppliers on availability, MOQs, lead times, and costingMaintain fabric libraries, swatches, and sourcing documentation4) Sampling & Production ExecutionCoordinate with tailors, artisans, and wash houses during samplingOversee fittings, spec corrections, and design refinementsEnsure final samples meet Rustlines’ standards for fit, finish, and qualitySupport bulk production handover when required5) Research & Trend DirectionResearch global denim trends, streetwear movements, and fabrication innovationsStudy competitor products, construction techniques, and wash processesTranslate trend insights into commercially viable design directions6) Studio & Shoot SupportMaintain organized sample racks, trims, and design archivesAssist during shoots, styling, and product prep when requiredCollaborate with the brand and marketing teams for design-led storytellingWhat we are looking for:Proven experience as a Fashion Designer (academic + practical)Strong understanding of fabrics, garment construction, and sourcingHands-on experience with apparel developmentAbility to manage design from concept to sampleProficiency in Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop (or equivalent tools)Strong attention to detail and execution qualityComfortable working in a fast-paced, startup-style environmentSomeone who treats design as a craft, not just a roleWhat you will get:Ownership over real products and collectionsDirect collaboration with founders and production teamsOpportunity to shape a growing Indian denim brandCreative freedom with accountabilityCompetitive compensation (based on experience)
