About the role We are looking for a skilled and proactive Database Engineer with hands-on experience in managing both PostgreSQL (Primary requirement), Microsoft SQL Server (secondary req), Cloud base environments . The ideal candidate will play a key role in self hosting(on prem) , performance tuning, query optimization , and helping scale our databases to meet growing application and business demands. You’ll work closely with developers, DevOps, and product teams to ensure our database infrastructure is secure, reliable, and efficient. Key Responsibilities: Manage, monitor, and maintain PostgreSQL and SQL Server databases in production and development environments. Perform in-depth query tuning, index optimization, and resource analysis to ensure maximum performance. Support scalability of databases through partitioning, sharding, replication, and other advanced techniques. Troubleshoot and resolve database performance and capacity issues. Collaborate with developers to review and optimize application-level SQL queries. Participate in database design and schema reviews for new projects and features. Write and maintain automation scripts for database tasks and reporting. Stay up to date with Postgres & MS SQL server specific best practices. Required Skills and Experience: 7–10 years of experience in database engineering. Strong hands-on experience with both PostgreSQL and SQL Server. Must have real hands-on experience in self-hosted PostgreSQL (on-prem / self-managed). Proven expertise in query optimization, index tuning, and database performance troubleshooting. Experience with scaling strategies (e.g., replication, load balancing, partitioning). Solid understanding of database internals and how they impact performance. Experience with monitoring tools like pg_stat_statements, SQL Server Profiler, or third-party APM tools. Familiarity with DevOps environments, CI/CD pipelines, and database change management.
