The Lead Enterprise Architect (Enterprise Architecture Management) is accountable for establishing and continuously improving Olympus’ Enterprise Architecture Management (EAM) capability: governance, standards and guardrails, portfolio transparency (applications and underlying technology), and an enterprise architecture roadmap that enables business outcomes. The role ensures architecture decisions are made consistently, are traceable, and are aligned to strategy, risk/compliance requirements, and delivery realities. It also drives the adoption and quality of architecture data and insights (e.g., LeanIX, Signavio, Cloud ALM, and ServiceNow) to support investment decisions, modernization, simplification, and technical-debt reduction.Architecture management operating model (EAM as a service)Define and continuously improve the EAM operating model (services, intake, prioritization, ways of working, templates) and ensure it is adopted across Global IT.Establish clear architecture deliverables and acceptance criteria for initiatives (e.g., architecture runway, target-state views, transition states) to enable effective delivery and governance.Provide executive-ready architecture insights (options, trade-offs, costs/risks) to support investment planning, prioritization, and roadmap decisions.Governance, standards and reusable guardrailsOwn and maintain enterprise architecture principles, policies, standards, and reference architectures (including exception/waiver approach) aligned to business strategy and risk posture.Translate standards into practical guardrails: patterns, blueprints, decision trees, and approved technology catalogs that teams can reuse to accelerate delivery.Ensure security-by-design, privacy-by-design, resilience, and operability are embedded in standards and architecture reviews in line with Olympus’ regulatory and quality requirements.Define and govern non-functional requirements (performance, scalability, interoperability, maintainability, portability, etc.) and ensure they are considered consistently across solutionsTechnology strategy, target architecture and transformation roadmapShape enterprise target architecture and technology strategy parameters (including cloud/platform direction, integration approach, data/AI foundations) in collaboration with domain and platform leaders.Maintain and socialize enterprise-level roadmaps (application and technology) that balance investment, risk, lifecycle (EOL/EOS), and delivery capacity.Drive modernization, simplification, and technical-debt reduction by identifying redundancies, obsolete technologies, and opportunities for harmonization and standard reuse.Track adoption and benefits of the target architecture and roadmap (KPIs/OKRs) and provide transparent reporting to leadership.Partner with strategic vendors and suppliers to align roadmaps, manage architectural fit, and support evaluation/selection of enterprise technologies.Own the roadmap for the architecture management toolchain (non-business domain capability toolset), ensuring integration with delivery and operations workflows.Enterprise portfolio transparency (applications & technology)Establish fit-for-purpose portfolio management capabilities to ensure transparency, ownership, and data quality for the application landscape and underlying technology stack (including lifecycle status, risk, cost drivers, and dependencies).Define portfolio segmentation and standards (e.g., strategic/core, tolerate, invest, retire) and ensure outcomes feed investment planning and delivery backlogs.Drive lifecycle and technical-debt management (EOL/EOS planning, remediation roadmaps) and partner with owners to execute rationalization and modernization decisions.Own portfolio reporting and KPIs (e.g., standards compliance, obsolescence risk, redundancy, data quality) and ensure consistent insights via LeanIX/ServiceNow and related integrations.Federated architecture community & stakeholder engagementBuild and run a federated architecture community of practice (CoP) across enterprise, domain, and solution architects to share patterns and lessons learned and improve consistency.Coach and enable architects and delivery teams on architecture ways of working, portfolio data discipline, and the practical application of standards and guardrails.Partner with senior stakeholders across IT and business to align on priorities, manage trade-offs, and ensure architecture governance supports (not blocks) delivery.Leadership & people developmentLead the EAM team day-to-day (work allocation, coaching, quality assurance, and capability development) in a matrix setup; provide input into performance reviews and hiring decisions while recognizing that formal line management/direct reports may sit outside the role in the org chart.Other responsibilities / duties as assigned. Why work at Olympus? At Olympus, we are committed to fostering a high-performing culture, a collaborative environment, and empowering everyone to shine.
