Job DescriptionJob Title: Technical Engineer - PipingDepartment: OperationsReports to: Lead Manager Piping EngineerSummaryThe Technical Engineer Role for this Job Description Expectations is that they will be responsible for providing mechanical engineering work including documentation and calculations as applicable and the associated disciplines supporting this role within the Ovivo Electronics & Metals Division, including covering the support of our business customers.Improvement of the Ovivo related Standard will also be covered when executing this role within the business working environment.Ownership of assigned activities, tasks, and deliverables under the direction of the Design, Engineering & Project Managers.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Review, understand, interpret and clarify all applicable specifications, to determine and fulfil project requirements and deliverables.Generating mechanical engineering designs, equipment, valve and mechanical instrument lists within estimated hours and timescales.Detail engineering for Piping / Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).Provide design calculations and documentation support for project work.Reviewing of technical specifications and schedules.Work closely with all functions of the business to ensure that the most economic, safe and suitable design is achieved.Implement improvements to the current range of standard equipment and services and develop ideas for future.Ability to read and understand 2D/3D CAD drawings for equipment, civil work layouts and mechanical design details to specific requirements within piping and plant construction.Detail engineering for piping related equipment and process plants.Project coordination & execution with vendor and client liaison, cross-functional coordination, document approvals, and site installation/commissioning support.Equipment and rotating-equipment procurement: Selection, evaluation, and procurement of tanks, vessels, pumps, heat exchangers, valve and moreProcess & Mechanical Engineering: Pipeline sizing, pressure drop calculations, pump, blower, compressor, agitator selection, and process documentation (PFDs, P&IDs).Performing basic engineering analysis and structural design calculations for steel and pipe supports.Provide material selections and issue Pipe Class Specifications.Produce parts-lists, bills of materials and technical documentation during and prior to being issued for manufacture.Provide project deliverables in accordance with the requirements laid down by the clientApply and supervise the application of safety standards to those equipment’s and services.Maintain, update and progress the standard drawings and data for a particular product or equipment.Provide technical support to Operations by generating sales assistance, drawings, or calculations.Participate in technical meeting with vendors, sub-contractors and clients and provide solution for queries raised.Advising Project Management of project status while adhering to all company and corporate policies.Ability to problem solving and analytical skills in developing problem deliverables.Ensured on-time attainment of metrics and objectives for successful project delivery.Preparing daily progress report and planning of activities for upcoming week.Other duties may be assigned as required.EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCEA minimum of HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering.Five (5) to eight (8) years’ experience in relevant industry and preferably previous experience in mechanical design of water treatment plants.Graduate (m/f/d) of a degree qualified engineering institute (mechanical engineering, environmental technology, industrial engineering or similar).Familiar with International Standards E.g. ISO, DIN, ASME VIII, B31.1 , B31.3.Knowledge and familiarity within Water Treatment Systems and its used materials and components.Undertake calculations including Fluid Hydraulics, equipment skid weights for civil guidance drawings, structural designs including seismic and wind loading.SKILLSTechnical Drawing Standards to BS8888:2020 and ISO 128.Positive and agile attitude and keen to work in a team environment.Experience working with multicultural teams.Ability to read and understand specification, fabrication, erection, and standard engineering drawings.Knowledge of applicable codes, tables and standard reference books used for design, machining, fabrication, and assembly techniques.Knowledge of drafting standard for both structural and mechanical design.Knowledge and experience using analysis software for calculating stress, strain, and fluid dynamics.Ability to understand English via written and verbal communication.Ability to make decisions requiring the use of a variety of variables in standard and non-standard situations.Knowledge and Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other MS Office programs.Working to Pressure Vessel and Structural Steel Specifications.Experience with 2D/3D AutoCAD Drawing systems (AutoCAD Plant 3D, Advance Steel) and Navisworks is an advantage.
