Job Description

Who we are Bravos Energía is a Mexico-based company driving innovation in the electricity markets of Mexico and the U.S., combining data, technology, and creativity to build a smarter and more sustainable energy future. The Role We are seeking a Transmission Modeling Manager to lead and elevate Bravos’ transmission modeling efforts. This is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for the architecture, accuracy, scalability, and innovation of transmission network models used in congestion simulations and FTR trading across ERCOT, SPP, and additional North American markets. This role partners closely with other senior managers in the team to co-lead end-to-end market simulation design, ensuring tight integration between generation, transmission and risk modeling. What We Expect This is not a maintenance or compliance-oriented modeling role. We are looking for a technically elite builder who can design, improve, and scale complex network simulation systems in a fast-moving trading environment. Own the architecture, assumptions, and implementation of large-scale transmission network models used in trading. Design and improve power flow modeling frameworks, including topology processing, shift factor computation, contingency definitions, and scenario construction. Translate forward-looking network changes (outages, new transmission, generators, load evolution) into structured model inputs. Create innovative approaches to improve simulation accuracy, solution efficiency, and model robustness. Identify and integrate new data sources or structural insights into Bravos’ network models. Serve as final technical reviewer for model changes deployed into trading workflows. Lead, mentor, and set technical standards for transmission analysts. Required Capabilities Demonstrated experience building and debugging large-scale transmission network models used in research, operations, or trading environments. Deep understanding of DC and/or AC power flow, contingency analysis, and shift factor calculations. Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL with production-quality code standards. Experience converting ISO datasets (topology, outages, ratings, transmission projects) into validated model structures. Proven track record of materially improving modeling frameworks or developing novel analytical approaches. Ability to operate as a hands-on technical leader while developing junior talent. Qualifications Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related discipline (Master’s or PhD strongly preferred). Experience with PSSE, PowerWorld, or comparable simulation tools. Prior exposure to electricity markets, congestion analysis, or FTR trading strongly preferred.
