Volex de México – Tijuana Site has been a leading company in the region since September 1993. The facility specializes in the manufacturing, assembly, construction, electrical cables, components for electrical devices and computer equipment, as well as medical diagnostic systems and other related applications. As part of its strategic growth initiatives, the site is expanding its operations to include the production of harnesses and connectors for the automotive industry. This expansion represents a significant opportunity for continued success for the plant and for everyone who is part of the Volex team. The selected candidate will join the Engineering Department, providing support to the Medical and Industrial Business Unit. Core areas of the role include: Collaborate with Production, Test, and Quality teams to evaluate feasibility and support manufacturing activities, ensuring product quality standards and delivery schedules are achieved. Work closely with Management, Production and Purchasing to assess engineering feasibility, cost efficiency, and market demand for both new and existing products. Lead and coordinate manufacturing support, documentation, and testing processes to guarantee compliance with technical specifications and customer requirements. Perform detailed calculations to define and establish manufacturing specifications. Develop and communicate material, equipment, and tooling specifications for purchasing when required. Review, prepare, and validate technical drawings and electrical system specifications to ensure installations and operations meet established standards and customer expectations. May create detailed multi-view drawings for assemblies and subassemblies. Evaluate engineering sketches, specifications, technical data, and drawings to determine critical design factors. Revise and improve designs to correct operational deficiencies and minimize production challenges. Coordinate with document owners to resolve discrepancies and implement necessary updates to ISO work instructions and related documentation. Design and plan electrical assembly layouts according to customer requirements, maintaining clear communication with Manufacturing and Test departments. Prepare cost estimates, reports, forecasts, schedules, budgets, and manage change orders. Coordinate quantity takeoffs by analyzing unit labor and material costs to optimize expenses and improve production efficiency. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering. Advanced bilingual proficiency in English required. Minimum of three years of related engineering experience, including specific experience in cable and harness assemblies. Experience within a medical manufacturing environment is preferred. Experience executing and supporting process validations (IQ, OQ, PQ). Working knowledge of ISO 13485 standards and controlled documentation systems is preferred. Ability to interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, assembly drawings, and wire lists.
