The Sr. Customs Compliance Specialist ensures strict adherence to Mexican Customs Law and international trade regulations. Acting as a technical lead, this role supports the supervisor by validating operational data to mitigate fiscal risks. The position requires English proficiency to interpret global regulations and manage cross-border certifications. Key focus areas include auditing DataStage entries, executing Annex 24/31 discharges, qualifying Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), and leveraging SQL/data-driven tools to optimize compliance workflows. Key Responsibilities and Activities Audits & Legal Compliance: Conducts preventive audits to identify fiscal risks and monitors the implementation of corrective actions. Consolidated Entry Validation: Reconciles consolidated customs entries to ensure 100% data integrity between SAT (DataStage) and internal systems (Ixport). KPI Management: Tracks and analyzes departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify and report operational deviations. Tariff & Tax Analysis: Validates the application of tariff preferences and ensures the correct elimination or payment of duties under various FTAs. Inventory Reconciliation: Performs cross-functional audits between SAP inventory modules and Ixport to maintain customs data integrity. IMMEX Program Oversight: Ensures all imports/exports maximize the tax benefits provided by the IMMEX program framework. Annex 24/31 Discharges: Executes material discharges and performs technical adjustments within the compliance system to maintain accurate balances. Certifications: Supports the maintenance and renewal of key certifications, including CTPAT, OEA, and VAT-IEPS. Scrap & Waste Control: Documents and monitors scrap disposal processes in coordination with Finance and EHS to ensure regulatory compliance. Reporting & SQL Development: Utilizes SQL to create customized reporting formats and control tools within Ixport, enhancing data visibility for management. Experience and Requirements Experience: 3+ years of experience in a Senior Customs Compliance or Trade Analyst role. Software (Annex 24): Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Ixport (or similar), specifically in report configuration and bulk data management. ERP (SAP): Working knowledge of inventory and materials modules (MM/WM) to audit merchandise movements. Technical Legal Knowledge: Deep understanding of the IMMEX legal framework, Rules of Origin for FTA qualification, and VAT-IEPS certification requirements. Data Skills: Proficiency in Excel and SQL (highly desirable) for cross-referencing massive datasets between SAP and Annex 24.
