Project DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced onsite network technician in Escobedo, Mexico to support a factory and office expansion project. The technician will assist with racking and stacking network equipment, performing IOS upgrades and configuration changes, and validating site readiness (cabling, power, and cooling). Work will be performed on-site in coordination with our remote engineering team. Approximate initial engagement: 20 hours (schedule to be confirmed). ResponsibilitiesRack and physically install network equipment (switches, routers, firewalls, etc.) in existing or new racks. Perform IOS/firmware upgrades on network devices following provided procedures. Apply configuration changes to network equipment based on templates or instructions from our engineers. Perform basic network testing and validation (link status, ping tests, checking VLAN assignments, etc.). Conduct site readiness checks for cabling, power, and cooling; report any issues with photos and written notes. Coordinate with remote engineers via phone/Teams during implementation and testing windows. Document all work performed, including device serial numbers, installed locations, and change times. Required Skills and Experience3+ years hands-on experience as a network field technician or network engineer. Strong understanding of Layer 2 / Layer 3 networking concepts (VLANs, trunking, routing basics). Proven experience with Cisco (or similar) network equipment upgrades and configuration changes. Ability to read and follow network diagrams, rack elevations, and implementation plans. Experience with racking/stacking equipment, cable management, and labeling. Familiarity with data center / network room standards (power, cooling, grounding, patching). Comfortable working under remote direction and updating tickets/status in real time. Strong written and verbal communication skills in Spanish; basic English for technical terms and coordination is a plus. Required Tools and Equipment (Technician Must Provide)Laptop with: SSH client (e.g., PuTTY, SecureCRT) Web browser and PDF viewer Ability to connect via Ethernet (RJ-45) USB-to-serial and/or RS-232 console cable compatible with Cisco-style console ports. Basic network toolkit: Ethernet cable tester or continuity tester Patch cords (Cat5e/Cat6) for temporary testing Label maker or labeling materials Cable ties/Velcro for cable management Basic hand tools: Screwdrivers (Phillips/flat), nut drivers Rack mounting tools (cage nut tool, etc.) Smartphone with camera for taking photos of racks, equipment, and cabling. Nice-to-HaveCisco CCNA (or equivalent) certification. Prior experience working in data centers or enterprise environments. Experience working on projects for large multinational clients. LogisticsLocation: Escobedo, Mexico (exact address provided upon assignment). Work will be scheduled during agreed maintenance windows or business hours, depending on project needs. Technician must comply with onsite security, safety, and access procedures (ID, badging, PPE if required).
