Main Responsibilities Provides overall direction to the regional manufacturing engineering function by guiding and coaching engineering projects, setting priorities, delegating workload and developing policies and procedures consistent with the company’s standards. Identifies competitive advantages and technological trends for the benefit of a company. Develop manufacturing engineering and technical talent across region, driving value to the individual and the organization. This role will be managing Technical Center of Excellence (COE’s) in North America. This leader needs to assess where resources are needed and expand/reduce these center’s as business requires. From design conceptualisation to mass production, the Director of Engineering and his team will work closely with the Sales and Product Development as well as factories to support process development for “Build to Specs” and Design-In opportunities. The incumbent will also be responsible for OTD Tooling & Tooling Qualification, automation, moulds, and equipment within the region. He / She will also support building a strong pipeline of new business opportunities/ NPI. Lead the technical team to support the entire Group’s manufacturing technical innovation strategy aligned with regional growth objectives. Work very closely with the various stakeholders to develop “green” tooling. Responsible for product patent protection, product development. Qualifications Possess strong Mechanical Engineering and operations background. Practitioner level lean/continuous improvement background Strong background in tooling, precision engineering, stamping, moulding, plating and machinery. Experience within high volume, mix model automotive component design and manufacturing. Knowledge of innovation in advanced manufacturing technologies, such as 3D printing Automotive experience is essential. Ideally this candidate should have had exposure to powertrain, “under-the-hood” harsh environment within the automotive sector. Mobility electrification background would be major plus. Well-trained on best practices processes and procedures, structured in approach but maintain a degree of flexibility that is required for the markets served. Willing to help, collaborative, considered a source of knowledge. Demonstrated leadership experience in coaching and managing a sizeable team.
