Job Description

The Senior Trade Compliance Specialist provides direct support to the Compliance Supervisor and team by ensuring adherence to customs regulations and internal procedures. This role is responsible for monitoring and evaluating departmental processes, tracking regulatory and legislative changes, and guiding Compliance Analysts in their daily activities. The position plays a key role in maintaining compliance, driving process improvements, and supporting overall operational efficiency. Qualifications • Experience with IMMEX (Maquiladora) operations required • Knowledge of international trade agreements • Solid understanding of import, export, and logistics processes • Strong knowledge of tariff classification • Familiarity with customs regulations (Mexico, U.S., and international) • Experience with customs certifications such as CTPAT, OEA, and IVA-IEPS • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail • Ability to provide feedback and direction to support team and departmental goals • Comprehensive understanding of customs compliance functions Experience • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role • Experience managing Annex 24 systems (Ixport preferred) • Experience with inventory control systems (SAP preferred) Key Responsibilities • Evaluate compliance risks and provide recommendations based on audits and findings • Support and train team members on regulations, policies, and best practices • Assist in the development, update, and oversight of customs compliance procedures and documentation • Build strong cross-functional relationships to ensure effective communication • Execute discharges and adjustments within Annex 24 systems • Collaborate with the supervisor to mitigate the impact of regulatory changes • Work with internal and external stakeholders to document, control, and implement processes • Review government transactional data against internal systems for accuracy • Support compliance audits and reporting requirements • Identify non-compliance risks and support corrective action plans • Respond to internal and external audit requests • Provide guidance and support to the compliance team • Oversee compliance processes related to Annex 22, Annex 24, and Annex 31 • Implement and track departmental metrics and performance indicators
